Ebay item 11/4/07
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-XK120-DHC-Jaguar-XK120-DHC-Restored-XK-120-Drop-H ...
Car has a buy it now price of $57,900, available for 9 days, 1 offer.

Sellers description:
This is the 6th Drop Head XK made by Jaguar. It is in great condition, just completing an extensive restoration this summer. It is Old English white with red leather interior, black top, and disc wheels with spats.

The restoration was comprehensive, but body-on as the condition of the undercarriage was too good for a body-off restoration, but the restoration otherwise was very comprehensive. Work completed includes:

* Engine and transmission were redone by a Jag specialist 3-5 years ago. Compression checks out in spec.
* Carb just rebuilt and tuned. Runs smooth and strong.
* New exhaust
* New leather interior kit (very nice leather by the way)
* About half the wood work redone to match original dash
* New lacquer paint
* Front suspension fully rebuilt
* New brake cylinders, lines, and shoes
* New wiring harness (cloth wrapped as original)
* Many rechromed original parts
* New top with the correct chrome trim
* Recent bias ply tires
* Lots of miscellaneous parts

This is not quite a 99pt JCNA car - if it was, it's be worth closer to six figures. But this car will show and drive extremely well. All the lights and instruments work except the oil level gauge. Shifts smooth, brakes well, tracks well, etc. No rust anywhere. In short, it's a great car, but we have another 120 and don't need 2. The Buy-it-now price is very realistic for a car in this condition, so please don't bother low-balling.

Actual mileage is unknown, but it's been about 200 miles since the restoration.

The car is located in Spokane, WA and can be seen most anytime.

An exciting discovery Until a few weeks ago this would have been the earliest single digit 120 LHD Drophead known. But we now have number 5 in Woonsocket Rhode Island as well. Two of the earliest cars in one month......marvellous

Current bid $20,100 reserve not met, 3 bids 9 days left in auction. Car now said to be in Corning, New York.

Sellers description:
Offered for auction is a stunning 1953 Jaguar XK120 Drop Head Coupe (DHC). I purchased this vehicle in 2008, but it has been a Californina car for most of its life. This is a very original piece that needs nothing for you to begin enjoying. This car is truly a classic piece of British automotive history. The straight 6-cylinder runs great and delivers impressive power. This vehicle looks like new and is a real treat to drive and, of course, show off. I am currently in the process of trying to reduce my personal collection, and the price on this piece is nothing shy of AMAZING!

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
