The car was my late father's bought on the east coast back in 1994 from Dr Lucia Nuti. It was bought back to the UK in 2018 and recommissioned post extensive restoration work (full bare metal respray and new interior) .

this beautiful XK120 DHC was on Auction at Farnborough International Exhibition Centre

www.historics.co.uk/buying/auctions/2024-05-11/cars/ref-19-1953-jaguar-xk120-dro ...%C3%A9-jd/

Description:

Lot Number 173 Registration 461 XVB Chassis Number 677267 Engine Number W8593-8 Estimate £68,000 - £76,000

The drophead we have here would have been the most expensive and rarest of the three derivatives at the time of delivery. With a properly fitting lined hood and wind-up windows it was also the far more practical option for use all year round. Extensively restored, this car has been fitted with some of the best concessions for modern motoring including electronic ignition, five-speed gearbox, front disc brakes, aluminium radiator and an alternator to mention just a few. Supplied with a V5C registration document together with a host of invoices. In a beautiful combination of Old English White with red leather trimmed by XK Specialists Suffolk and Turley, this left hand drive Jaguar is ready to be enjoyed by the most discerning of enthusiasts. Consigned by John Dutton

I’m the new owner of this beautiful XK120. I bought it at the Historics Ascot auction in March 25. It’s since had a full service, check over and fettling at XK specialist Winspeed and is in excellent condition mechanically and cosmetically. The engine was rebuilt by Nigel Boycott in 2022 and the car has a Guy Broad 5 speed box, front disc brakes (now servo’d), aluminium radiator and Powerlite Dynalite alternator as well as pretty recent Blockley tyres. It was also converted to negative earth and fitted with two Odyssey Extreme 12v batteries wired in parallel for extra starting power

The car runs and drives as it should and is great fun to be in.

It has a very good service history folder with history and owner details dating back to the 1960’s.

It lived in Connecticut, New Jersey and New York while in the US and was imported into the USA by Hoffman New York and dispatched from the factory on 4th June 1953. Now residing in Surrey.

Feel very lucky to have found this fantastic car.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
