Beautifully Restored and Detailed Drop Head Coupe 1953 Jaguar XK 120 Drophead Coupe s/n 677447 Head no. W8893-8 British Racing Green with Biscuit Interior This particular car is beautifully presented in the quintessential colors. It has a wonderful elegant period feel thanks to its steel wheels and full rear spats. It has been comprehensively restored, though it was an extremely nice car even before that. It was owned by a Jaguar Club North America Concours judge, and earned 2nd in its class with a score of 9.910 BEFORE being restored. It was shown again after the restoration and scored 9.981. More recently, the car has been treated to a full tune, including the installation of various seals, gaskets, adjustment of carburetors, and the adjustment of fuel mixture. A new vacuum advance was also installed, and the dwell and timing set. A compression check was also done revealing compression between 135 and 155 pounds on all six cylinders. Cosmetically, the car is beautiful. The paint is high quality with no surface imperfections or prep issues. There are almost no blemishes or damage, and the panels are very straight. The gaps are very good to excellent throughout. The chrome is extremely nice too, with only very light pitting upon careful scrutiny in a few areas. A pair of auxiliary Lucas lamps is installed. The glass and lights are excellent as well. The interior has been comprehensively restored as well and is beautifully set off by the wood door and dashboard, which are extremely lustrous and free from warping or cracking. The leather and carpets are very nice as well, and the instruments and switches were well-restored too. The top was also restored fits well. The trunk and engine compartment are both extremely clean and well-detailed. The original glass washer bottle is still installed, and the wiring harness retains the correct fabric insulation and color coding. The level of fit and finish is very high, and an electric fan has been added to aid cooling. The trunk contains a beautiful pair of fitted suitcases upholstered in tan leather to match the interior. The underside was included in the restoration and is in spectacular nearly spotless condition. It is not only very clean but also extremely well-detailed. There are no signs whatsoever of corrosion or damage. With this example comes new reproduction fitted luggage, period jack, and spare wheel and tire.

Delivered new to the USA, this XK120 drophead coupé comes with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate confirming that it retains original body, chassis, gearbox and engine numbers as well as its original colour combination. Beautifully restored in classic British Racing Green with tan leather interior, this car was an excellent example even before work began. Formerly owned by a Jaguar Club North America concours judge, it had achieved 2nd-in-class honours prior to renovation, while its first outing afterwards yielded a score only marginally better than before. The paintwork is of high quality, with no surface imperfections and virtually no blemishes or damage. The body panels are all straight and true and the brightwork very nice, with only slight signs of pitting in some areas. The glass and lighting are excellent, the latter including a pair of Lucas auxiliary lamps.
Comprehensively restored, the interior features a walnut dashboard and door trims, all free of warping or cracking and polished to a high lustre. The seats and carpet are similarly very nice, and the restored convertible hood fits well. The instruments and switches likewise have been carefully restored.
The luggage and engine compartments are both clean and well detailed. The latter retains its original glass washer bottle, and the electrical wiring harness has the correct fabric insulation and colour coding. Matching the interior, a beautiful pair of reproduction fitted suitcases in biscuit leather is included. The underpinnings are well detailed and nearly spotless, with no signs of corrosion or damage, and the car comes with a period-correct jack, spare wheel and tyre.
Purchased by the current owner for his extensive collection in 2008, the XK has been looked after by his in-house mechanic ever since, though seeing very little use, and is certain to delight its next owner.
