This 1954 Jaguar XK120 is a left-hand-drive Drophead Coupe that was built on July 9, 1953 and dispatched on July 15th to New York distributor Max Hoffman. The car is finished in black over a tan interior and powered by a 3.4-liter DOHC inline-six paired with a four-speed manual gearbox. The current owner has driven the car approximately 3,500 miles since acquiring it nine years ago, many of which were accumulated during a number of long-distance rallies, including the 2016 California Mille. The head gasket was replaced in 2011, at which time the cylinder head was resurfaced and a valve job was completed. This XK120 is now being offered for sale by the Malamut Auto Museum with service records dating back to 2005, a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate, a factory tool kit, and a clean California title.

The car was finished in black from the factory, and the exterior is shown up close in the gallery below along with the brightwork, lenses, and badging. Equipment includes a sand beige soft top, fender-mounted mirrors, a split windshield, and rear wheel spats.

Steel wheels wear polished trim rings, painted covers, and wide whitewall tires. The four-wheel drum brake system was serviced and received a rebuilt master cylinder in 2005. A walk-around video is presented above.

The interior is trimmed in tan and features lap belts for both driver and passenger. Burl wood accents the dashboard, A-pillars, and tops of the doors.

The cabin also features a factory steering wheel and Smiths gauges, including a 140-mph speedometer and a reverse-sweep tachometer. Under 69k miles are indicated on the five-digit odometer, approximately 3,500 of which were added during current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The 3.4-liter twin-cam six is paired with a four-speed manual transmission. The head gasket was replaced and the cylinder head resurfaced in 2011. An aluminum radiator and electric fan have been installed, which are said to greatly improve cooling. The Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate shows a build date of July 9, 1953 and lists the original colors.

This car will be available for viewing during the BaT Alumni Gathering at Laguna Seca on Saturday, August 17th. Please come visit our tent to see this car, meet BaT staff, and hang out with the owners of more than 80 cars that were bought on the website. We hope to see you there!

This is one of the finest restored Standard XK-120 Drop Head coupes offered of late at auction. A superb example even down to the presence of the laced leather gaiters on the rear leaf springs. It sounds , from the commentary on the auction site , as though this fine Jaguar will continue to be driven and enjoyed by the new owner. Congratulations to the seller and buyer. A fair price for a magnificent car. Thank you to BaT for their usual fine job of handling the transaction.
