Description Dispatched to the United States on November 9th, 1953 to Hornburg Jaguar in Los Angeles, California and delivered new to Texas oilman H.G. Foote on January 30, 1954 in Meduia, Texas. When Mr. Foote was injured in a small plane crash in 1956, the car was placed in storage on blocks where it stayed covered for twenty years with the engine full of mineral oil. Upon Mr. Foote’s death in 1976, the car was bought by Henry Kooistra of Hebron, Illinois, who brought the car back from inactivity and put it back on the road. He also had it repainted. In July, 1982, Mr. Kooistra sold the car, then with 28,730 miles, to noted collector William Adamson of Princeton, New Jersey. Here it joined other automotive collectibles including a Mercedes-Benz 540K, a Mercer Raceabout and a Bentley fastback R-Type Continental. Mr. Adamson replaced the convertible top, headliner, leather, exhaust system, all belts and hoses, brakes and those ancillary mechanical parts which might have suffered from the passage of time. In 1988, Mr. Adamson received second place in the “Best Original Car’ category at Amelia Island, Florida, Concours d’Elegance. The car was judged at that time at 94 points. Twenty years after finding it in Illinois, Mr. Adamson sold the car, then with 36,971 miles, to a Far Hills collector. We have been able to purchase this great car from that collector. The car looks and drives just as these cars did in the 1950’s and is accompanied by its original tool roll, jack, tire pump, grease gun, T-handle, owner’s manual, service records, etc.
