This 1952 Jaguar XK120 Fixed Head Coupe was completed on February 13, 1952 and distributed in the US through Hornburg Jaguar of Los Angeles, California. The car was acquired by the owner 39 years ago and underwent a color change to its present copper scheme under previous ownership. Power is provided by a 3.4-liter inline-six mated to a four-speed manual gearbox, and features include dark red vinyl upholstery, body-colored steel wheels, a stainless steel exhaust system, an electric fuel pump, rear wheel spats, an inline fuel filter, and dual SU carburetors. This XK120 is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner reserve with receipts dating back to 1983, a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, spare parts, an operating manual, and a clean Minnesota title.
The car left the factory finished in silver and was refinished in copper under previous ownership after the rear fenders were molded to the body and replacement floors were installed. Features include an aluminum hood, doors, and trunk lid, along with rear bumperettes, rear wheel spats, dual exhaust outlets, and fender-mounted side mirrors. The trunk latch is missing, there is rust along the body mounting outriggers, and the rocker panels were replaced by the seller.
Body-colored 16″ steel wheels with chrome hub caps and trim rings are mounted with Armstrong Super Heatmaster and Coker tires.
The interior is trimmed in dark red vinyl, and appointments include a burl wood dashboard and door panel trim, a rearview mirror, a lockable glovebox, and vent windows. The headliner is torn and deteriorating.
The four-spoke steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 120-mph speedometer and a reverse-sweep tachometer with an inset clock. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 88k miles, approximately 2k of which were added by the owner.
The 3.4-liter inline-six is equipped with dual SU carburetors, an electric fuel pump, an inline fuel filter, double overhead camshafts, and a stainless-steel exhaust system that was reportedly installed in 2015. The engine emits blue smoke.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. Evidence of fluid leaks as well as areas of rust are visible.
The Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate shows the factory colors and identification numbers along with a build date of February 13, 1952.
