Ebay item 6/19/19
www.ebay.com/itm/1952-Jaguar-XK/264366554892
Opening bid $20,000 reserve not met, no bids 6 days left in auction, seller classic_lens_inc, 100k miles.

Seller's description:
Early XK120 coupe for restoration. I bought this car a few years back and intended to restore it but life has intervened, The Jag has been in storage for this time. Now the details, the engine turns but I have not torn down the engine at this point. All the big parts seem to be there, the car appears complete. There is surface rust on the exterior panels but nothing invasive or problematic. The discoloration you see in the pictures is from the paint peeling but the metal underneath looks good. This is a matching numbers car. There is a long 12-14" crease on the roof which can be easily addressed and the drivers side door skin is damaged and needs replacement however the door seems to close properly so I don't think there is damage to the door frame. The previous owner cut out the interior floor panels and those will need to be refitted. The tires appear decades old and the one on the passenger side front is flat and I haven't tried to inflate it, but regardless these will all go in the waste bin during a restoration. This car will need all systems completely restored but is a good starting point. What follows is from the Jaguar Heritage Certificate:

Make and model Jaguar XK120
Body Style Fixed head coupe, left hand drive
Date of Manuf 28 April 1952
Chassis Number 679654
Engine Number W 4772-S
Body Number J 1660
Gearbox Number JL10398
Exterior Paint Color Battleship Grey
Interior Color Red
Original Distributor Hoffman, New York
Data of Dispatch 26 May 1952

As you can see the car's original color is the very stylish battleship grey and if you have seen this color on these early Jags you know how incredible it looks. Happy bidding.

This car was originally Battleship Grey ( as confirmed to me by Jaguar Heritage), a truly very dark Grey, despite some tracks of lighter Grey inside the engine bay.

I have an original sample and also some original parts painted in Battleship Grey.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
