This 1952 Jaguar XK120 is a left-hand drive Fixed Head Coupe which was completed on July 3, 1952 and dispatched to Hornburg in Los Angeles, California the following August 12. A Mr. Binner of Waco, Texas purchased the car in October 1958 through Inmon’s Motor Sales, and stored it for several decades until its acquisition by the selling dealer in late 2018. Equipment includes a numbers-matching 3.4-liter inline-six which is said to rotate freely by hand and is paired with a 4-speed manual gearbox. A red repaint and matching leather upholstery have replaced the original Pastel Blue and grey scheme. This XK120 is offered as a rolling project with a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate and a 1958-issue Texas title in name of the previous owner.

The XK120 was originally offered as a two-seat convertible beginning in 1948, and the FHC model debuted for the 1951 model year. This example was reportedly repainted from its original Pastel Blue early in its life, and the finish has faded with time. The selling dealer is presenting the car in largely the same condition as when it was removed from storage.

1959-issue Texas license plates are fitted front and rear, and a Texas DPS inspection sticker from the same year remains affixed to the windscreen. The steel 16″ wheels were repainted red to match the body and wear factory hubcaps as well as mixed bias-ply tires. An original-style spare is reportedly contained in the trunk along with emergency equipment.

Red leather upholstery, door panels, and carpets reportedly replaced the original grey interior trim at the time of the exterior color change, and show the effects of longterm storage.

A factory steering wheel, wood dash panel, and Smiths gauges are present along with a period radio. The 5-digit mechanical odometer indicates 51k miles.

The numbers-matching 3.4L twin-cam inline-six features polished cam covers and dual SU carburetors. The engine is said to turn freely by hand, but does not currently run according to the selling dealer.

Engine #5416-8 is stamped on the block and cylinder head, and matches the factory data plate, 1958-issue title, and Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate as original to the car.

The selling dealer points out underbody details including leather-wrapped leaf springs, battery box condition, small return springs, cables, lateral supports, and corner joints.

The Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate states that this XK120 was manufactured on July 3, 1952 and dispatched for Los Angeles on August 12. The car was originally finished in Pastel Blue over Grey, and factory chassis, engine, body, and gearbox numbers are also listed.
