Engine Number W5437-8 now W5818 -8 which is the same year and has been in the car for decades approximately 2 months newer than the original engine may have been replaced at the factory.
Type C cylinder head G4319 - 8S was fitted in the US and it was on the car before restoration.
History 1952 supplied new in California in September as detailed in Heritage Certificate via Hornburg in LA.
Shipped to Europe in early 2000s.
2000 to 2006 body off chassis restoration. Engine rebuilt, suspension rebuilt, new springs, new shock absorbers, rewired, retrimmed. Essentially everything rebuilt. All pictures on a digital file.
2006 registered in Belgium.
2006 to 2015 in Belgian collection little used with only 52 miles up to 2015
2015 commissioned for the road. Upgrades to exhaust, lights, setup and test brakes. Change oil and water. Test on short and long runs (350 miles in 6 hours).
2015 registered in the UK as WXG 268
2016 650 mile check over; ignition torque head bolts, electric choke adjusted.

Running
Oil pressure is constant on a long run. Water temperature is constant on a long run. Electric choke has a manual switch under the dash on the left hand side. Left hand switch pull out for on. Spot / fog lights have the RH switch and come on with the headlamps. Car starts all the time with no choke apart from when cold after running for a couple of minutes turn off choke. Choke may need adjusting as the car is used and run in.

This 1952 example has been carefully restored, with particular attention paid to every aspect of its presentation. The car was delivered new to Hornburg, California, in September 1952, and made its way to Europe in the early 2000s, where a complete restoration was undertaken, rebuilding the car from top to bottom, including the engine, suspension and bodywork. It is also fitted with a highly sought-after C-Type cylinder head and large-diameter stainless steel exhaust system. Elegant leather upholstery appears to be free from noticeable wear
The vendor reports some minor chrome defects on the rear bumper, but these are not particularly noticeable
There is a small paint imperfection on the nose, but otherwise there is very little to report
The underside appears to be in excellent condition and is remarkably clean
Luggage compartment behind the seats deepened, batteries moved under the wing as on the XK 140 (US)
