Lot #78530

This 1952 Jaguar XK120 Fixed Head Coupe is finished in black over red leather and powered by a 3.4-liter inline-six mated to a four-speed manual gearbox. Equipment includes 16″ wheels, chrome hubcaps, rear wheel spats, auxiliary lights, dual carburetors, wool carpets, and an AM radio. The car was acquired by the current owner in 2006, and subsequent work included refinishing the exterior and refreshing the interior. This XK120 is now offered with a clean California title in the seller’s name.

The seller notes that the bodywork was refinished in the original black circa 2012 by Brian Hoyt of Perfect Reflections. Equipment includes a two-piece windshield, auxiliary lights, bright trim, and rear-wheel spats. The bumper overriders and taillight housings were reportedly re-chromed during current ownership.

Steel 16″ wheels wear chrome hubcaps and Michelin radial tires which the seller notes should be replaced due to age.

The seller notes that an interior refresh in the original red was carried out in 2013 using materials from Bassett’s. Work reportedly included recovering the seats in red leather and refinishing the wood trim, along with replacing the vinyl door panels and the wool headliner and carpets. Equipment includes a dash-mounted mirror and a clock, as well as an AM radio with a tube amplifier.

The four-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of a wood dashboard which houses a 140-mph speedometer, a reverse-sweep XK-140 specification tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer is believed to have rolled over and shows 16k miles, approximately 500 of which were added during current ownership. Total mileage is unknown. The seller notes that the oil-level gauge is not connected.

The 3.4-liter inline-six is reportedly a rebuilt 160-horsepower “Type C” engine from an XK-140 that was installed circa 1960. A coolant recovery tank and a stainless-steel fan have been added. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The car is reportedly equipped with a 4.09:1 rear axle ratio.

The data plate is shown above and lists chassis, body, engine, and gearbox numbers. The car is titled in California by the engine number W60308.

Service records are included in the sale.
