Sellers description:
I have owned the car since early 1970's. It is driven every week and is capable of maintaining Interstate highway speeds (plus a little) and handles well. It is mostly original, with the major exception of the engine. The original 3.4 was replaced in 1978 with a 3.8 taken from a MK2. The engine was rebuilt as needed at that time by a professional mechanic and the car was also stripped and repainted at that time and has been garaged since then. Original burl dash has been refinished and instruments maintained.
I use the car for weekends and a few local shows, etc. Where parts have been replaced or upgraded I have kept the originals so the car could be restored if desired. Examples. The oil filter has been replaced with a XK Limited spin-on filter, but the original can and fitting are here.. The steering wheel was replaced with a 16" woodrim Moto Lita, but the original 17" is here. The brake master was replaced with the correct XK Limited master cylinder. Other preventive/routine maintenance over the last three years includes replacing upper and lower ball joints, Spax shocks, Michelin 185R16 tires and tubes, refinish exhaust manifold, stainless steel exhaust/muffler system, refurbish and replace interior leather and carpets as needed.
The car has the expected oil leaks and occasional Lucas electrical delights for a 55 year old car, but all essential items function.
I think the car is easily maintained as a driver. I have maintained and restored items as needed for my driving pleasure, but with a little effort and a little time, it is fully restorable to show class for local shows, etc.
