Lot #138188
This 1953 Jaguar XK120 is a left-hand-drive Fixed Head Coupe that was sold new in the US and later spent time in the UK before being re-imported in 1990. Finished in red over beige leather upholstery, the car was acquired by the seller in 1996, and subsequent work involved rebuilding the replacement 3.4-liter inline-six, overhauling the four-speed manual transmission, and installing an aluminum radiator. Equipment includes dual SU carburetors, driving lights, 16” knock-off wire wheels, burl wood trim, a Blaupunkt AM/FM/cassette stereo, and Smiths instrumentation. This XK120 is now offered with a workshop manual, service records under current ownership, and a clean Arizona title in the seller’s name.
The car was repainted in red under prior ownership and features a split windshield, driving lights, fender-mounted side mirrors, and split chrome bumpers. The right front turn signal lens is cracked, and paint chips and blemishes around the car are shown up close in the gallery along with deteriorated window seals.
Body-color 16” knock-off wire wheels wear chrome two-eared spinners and are mounted with 185-series Avon Turbosteel tires. A matching spare wheel is stored in the trunk. Braking is handled by drums at all four corners.
The cabin is trimmed in beige leather, and burl wood trim adorns the dashboard, upper door panels, and window frames. Lap belts have been added as well as a battery cutoff switch and a Blaupunkt AM/FM/cassette stereo connected to speakers mounted in the kick panels and parcel shelf. Bound carpets line the floors and cargo area, and discoloration on the interior surfaces can be viewed in the gallery along with wear on the driver’s seat and scuffed paint on the sills.
The steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation consisting of an inoperative speedometer, a reverse-sweep tachometer with an inset clock, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 73k miles, and total mileage is unknown.
The replacement 3.4-liter DOHC inline-six was installed under prior ownership and rebuilt shortly after the seller’s acquisition. It is equipped with dual SU carburetors, and an aluminum radiator fabricated by Ron Davis Racing Products of Glendale, Arizona, was installed in 2018.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission that was overhauled in 2003. The rear differential was replaced at that time.
A workshop manual will accompany the car along with a parts catalog and service records dating to 1997.

Lot #207954
This 1953 Jaguar XK120 Fixed Head Coupe was sold new in the US and later spent time in the UK before being re-imported in 1990. The car then was owned in Massachusetts and Vermont before being relocated to Arizona and offered on BaT in March 2024. The seller purchased the car in mid-2025 and subsequently had it repainted in red and the beige leather upholstery re-dyed. The replacement 3.4-liter inline-six and the four-speed manual transmission were rebuilt under prior ownership. Equipment includes dual SU carburetors, an aluminum radiator, driving lights, body-color 16” knock-off wire wheels, burl wood trim, a Blaupunkt AM/FM/cassette stereo, and Smiths instrumentation. This left-hand-drive XK120 is now offered with a workshop manual, service records, and a clean Arizona title in the seller’s name.
Bodywork to the hood, roof, and elsewhere was performed before the car was sanded and refinished in red in mid-2025 in preparation for the sale. The seller states that the work involved three base coats and three coats of clear, which were then cut and buffed.
Features include a split windshield, driving lights, fender-mounted side mirrors, split front bumpers, rear bumperettes, and dual exhaust outlets. The right-front turn-signal lens is cracked.
Body-color 16” knock-off wire wheels wear chrome two-eared spinners and are mounted with 185-series Avon Turbosteel radial tires. A spare is stored in a compartment beneath the trunk. Braking is handled by black-painted drums at all four corners. The car was factory equipped with an independent front suspension with telescopic-type hydraulic shock absorbers as well as semi-elliptical rear leaf springs and Girling hydraulic rear shock absorbers.
The beige leather upholstery was re-dyed in preparation for the sale. Burl wood trim adorns the dashboard, upper door panels, and window frames. A Blaupunkt AM/FM/cassette stereo is connected to Alpine speakers mounted in the kick panels and the parcel shelf. Bound carpets lining the floors and the cargo area were cleaned under current ownership. The beige-colored trunk trim also was re-dyed.
The four-spoke steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 140-mph speedometer, a reverse-sweep 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset clock, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 73k miles, and approximately 250 miles were driven under current ownership; true mileage is unknown.
The replacement 3.4-liter DOHC inline-six was installed in the car prior to 1996, and it was rebuilt in 2003 by Tivvy’s Autocraft of Richmond, Vermont. An aluminum radiator from Ron Davis Racing Products was installed in 2018. A K&N air filter has been adapted. The dual SU carburetors were rebuilt in May 2025 and the fluids were changed, the seller tells us.
