This 1954 Jaguar XK120 is a left-hand drive Fixed Head Coupe that was stored in Utah for approximately 25 years until the seller acquired it and relocated it to North Carolina in 2015. Power is provided by a numbers-matching 3.4L twin-cam inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. The car has been converted to 12 volts, and repairs performed by the seller to make the car run and drive included a replacement brake master cylinder, replacement brake hoses, and overhauled fuel pumps. Equipment includes a push-button radio, 16″ knock-off wire wheels, fender-mounted mirrors, and dual SU carburetors. This XK120 Fixed Head Coupe is now offered as a running project with a clean North Carolina title in the seller’s name.
Believed to originally have been light blue, the exterior was refinished in dark burgundy approximately 40 years ago, according to the seller. Paint chips and peeling are visible around the body, and corrosion is noted on each front fender below the fresh air vents as well as at the rear edge of the trunk floor. The seller states that the windshield seal has been replaced during current ownership.
16″ knock-off wire wheels are finished in Ivory and are wrapped in older 185-series Pirelli Cinturato radial tires. Braking is handled by four-wheel drums, and service performed during current ownership includes a replacement master cylinder, brake flex lines, and brake fluid. The seller notes that the front shock absorbers are not working, and the suspension will need work.
The interior features burgundy leather upholstery, matching carpets and door panels, and a burl wood dash. Both seats are torn and cracked, some carpet is missing, and the remaining carpet is faded. The car was converted to a 12-volt system with a single battery behind the seat by a previous owner, and a push-button radio remains in the dash.
Smiths instrumentation consists of a 140-mph speedometer, a reverse-sweep tachometer, and gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, amperage, and fuel level. The seller notes that the water temperature and oil pressure gauge was repaired during current ownership, and the five-digit odometer shows 42k miles, 200 of which were added by the seller. True mileage is unknown.
The numbers-matching 3.4L twin-cam inline-six features dual SU carburetors and was factory rated at 160 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque. The seller states that, after acquiring the car, the fuel lines were cleaned and the fuel pumps were overhauled. The car runs and drives, and the seller states that the water pump was replaced and the charging system was repaired in August 2020.
The cylinder head stamping W9975-8 matches the engine number listed on the chassis date plate. A corresponding engine block stamp can be viewed in the gallery.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. Additional underside photos are provided in the gallery.
