The XK140 seems to have become the 'one to have' in the Jaguar XK range and we are always very pleased any examples of the superbly styled sports cars. In this particular instance though we have found you an absolute cracker.
Entered from a private Scottish collection, this 1955 Jaguar XK140 coupe is finished in arguably one of the best coulours for an XK, namely British racing green, and although the car had a full repaint ten years ago it is still in outstanding condition throughout. Add to that though a lovely history which suggests that it has only had three owners from new and that it has only covered 55780 miles in that time you start to get the feeling that this is something quite special.
It is also probably unique in that the engine has never been taken apart and the car has retained most of its original body panels, has the overdrive gearbox, drives beautifully and quietly and is being sold with the registration number VNF 1.
The feeling was right - it is something quite special.

Car on offer at:

Sellers description:
Jaguar XK140 coupe in British racing green with Suede green leather interior and fitted with the outstanding 3.4 Litre engine that twice won at Le Mans. Matching numbers and registered PGA 638 in July 1955 delivered to Mr A Hunter of Kilmacolm through Calendars the Jaguar dealer near Glasgow and the following fitted factory options were fitted, twin exhausts, Laycock overdrive 4 speed manual gearbox and window washers. 59,000 miles since new and with some original service records from 1961 still in the history file.

Just been put through extensive servicing and sympathetic detailing to the exterior and interior to bring back to very nice condition by one of the UK's top leading race engineers and restorers who has several cars annually competing at Goodwood and so as not to disturb the patina that she has built up over the last 55 years, everything where needed was retained and refurbished rather than replaced. It is not the most inexpensive way to prepare a car but it was the only way to retain the superb patina, smell and touch of my wonderful big Cat. She comes with tool kit, jack and handbooks and this wonderfully original XK140 Fixed head coupe can be driven anywhere with the utmost confidence and if you have a wish to pedal her around a circuit , it will be a very satisfying experience indeed.

At shows and meetings onlookers walk past the dozens of glitzy over restored Astons, Ferraris, hundreds of E types and shiny recreations that seem to be out there in their multitudes, to view the XK 140 as there are very few Jaguar XK140 fixed head coupes out there left in such wonderful original condition.

In comparison to other period performance and race cars XK140's are extremely quick, extraordinary good looking and have impeccable road manners are inexpensive to maintain and are very reliable indeed.
When you climb into this Big Cat, you will reach your destination dry and comfortable without needing roadside assistance. Eligible for every classic race meeting or show event there is. FIVA competition papers have been issued and she is eligible for the Mille Miglia should you wish to enter.

The reason I acquired this big Cat in the first place was because I sponsored and participated with one of my cars in one of the support races at the 24 Le Mans event in 2006 and a XK140 Coupe finished 6th and was the first hard top car to finish

Considering there were over 35 cars in the race with values well into seven figures it makes the Coupe very very good value indeed and any parts are off the shelf.
