Car now offered at:
www.classic-motor-cars.co.uk/carsales/3327-2/
Seller's description:
Jaguar | XK140 Saloon | 1st March 1956
£79,995
A beautiful and very original XK140 recommisioned by CMC and brought back to the road after a number of years in storage.
WHU888 is a fine example of the marque and particularly original. Having been laid up for some years , CMC were asked to recommission WHU for a very important and personal event for which the car was to be used. In so doing we have carried out significant works to ensure that the car would not let the owner down on the important day. This included a thorough review of brakes and suspension in order to achieve a fresh MOT pass and more significantly removal of the car’s engine and gearbox, overhaul of the gearbox and replacement of the cars clutch.
Additionally much work has been carried out to bring the engine back to rude health. Whilst fundamentally very sound, we have overhauled the fuel and ignition systems including fitting a new distributor and I can report now that the engine is astonishingly willing and pulls as a sporting Jaguar should!
Finally we were asked to return the car to its original colour of Jaguar Pastel Green. We were amazed by the soundness of the original coachwork under the car’s repainted white body work and very little remedial work was required. This is a very solid car indeed.
Now refinished, carefully reassembled, and completely recommissioned, her duty done for her owner, we have been asked to find WHU888 a new home.
Supplied with 12 months MOT, a significant back history file, Heritage Certificate, original log book, matching chassis, body, gearbox and block numbers, 5 owners from new, one of whom was Phillip Porter of the XK Club, it is difficult to think of a better and more original 140.
