Nearing the end of a 10 year on-off restoration (as funds allowed). Intend to drive it to Le Mans next year - here's hoping!

Hello Norman, Steve Heimerle from San Francisco and great great great grandson of Johan Hessler of SKien.. I am doing some research today and thanks to Google found my way to this. Beautiful car! By the way it looks like Johan had two brothers who also immigrated to Norway - Gottlieb and Adam. I am trying to untangle the information...as they all loved to use the name Johan.... Cheers, Steve

Car to be at auction 5/19
stock.morrisleslie.com/stock/details&location=6101
Auction description:
1956 JAGUAR XK140 - 3442cc
ESTIMATE £45,000 - £55,000
Chassis number 804620DN - Carrying a Birmingham registration number of 'TOB30', This RHD, FHC example was first registered on February 11th 1956. From the JDHT Heritage Certificate we can see this car was manufactured on January 26th 1956 with engine number G6428-8 the car was originally Battleship Grey and was dispatched from the factory on February 8th 1956 to the distributor P.J.Evans of Birmingham. The car has remained in name of the same registered keeper for over 20 years who in turn purchased it from a prolific enthusiast and collector who had purchased the car as a stripped shell he informs us during the 1980's during which time the car underwent a Chassis up restoration which he states including purchase, exceeded £70,000. The vendor states that the car was fitted with a 'C-Type' engine which was built by the late David Cunningham and lightly tuned at this time. The car has a selection of paperwork dating from the 1990's in the file showing much of the work completed. Within the history is an interesting article in which the previous owner has published some photos on the XK Data page showing the car approaching the end of his restoration and stating he intends to drive the car to LeMans.
