Clausager in the "In Detail: book records: "This 001 and 002 were the 2 DHC prototypes. 001 was used by Bill Heynes. Both cars were disposed of secondhand to Coombs, Guildford. Both still exist, both reported to have a number of XK120 features, e.g bumpers, rear lamps, bootlid, and for 807001 a 120 grille." Porter in Original Jaguar XK (1998) at page 139 and the same title from 2008 at page 373 states: "807001 & 807002 completion dates unknown" and makes no reference to scrapping of 001.

Further to the above information I have now found a reference to this car in "XK Bulletin" Oct/Nov 1973,Vol 5 Nos 10 and 11 where it was advertised for sale by Toby Morris of Bridport Dorset UK. He said the car was first registered 25th October 1954 and that it was the first 140 DHC. He gave the above chassis number and body number.
