As per the factory records #005 is finished in its original and quintessential colour combination of British Racing Green (BRG) with Suede Green hide, matching Green carpets bound in Green leather and a dark Green mohair soft top. The hood benefits from a mohair hood bag to match and fitment of the correct Wool headlining. Body coloured wire wheels are fitted with Dunlop Racing 205/75/16 tyres which makes the XK sit mean on the road and the fitment of chrome two ear spinners gives a touch of added class. Unlike the rest of its siblings the 140 DHC was the only car to have a lavish cabin, Burr Walnut dash board, door tops with grab handles counter sunk in and further wood running through the hood frame.
Supplied new via agents TT Garage of Farnham 25th January 1955 – TT was famously owned by Former F1 Champion Mike Hawthorn, who was also a Jaguar works driver and went on to win the 24 hour 1955 LeMans in the highly successful D-Type. A reflection of the importance held by Sir William’s allocation of an early delivery of the newly designed 140. Build completion 30th December 1954, chassis number #005 was dispatched from Browns Lane 25th January 1955 and delivered to Farnham. TT Garage were the official distributer for Surrey and this car was first registered 8th June 1955 and issued the registration XPF 19 – fast forward 67 years and this registration is still applied to the car, a collectors dream to see.
A beneficiary of a full JD Classics body off nut and bolt, bare metal restoration which has been carried out to the parallel standard of Rolls-Royce – no small detail has been overlooked.
Built to full JD Sport spec, where a considerable amount of improvements and upgrades have been carried out in the restoration process to aid and improve the drivability and performance.
Gearbox: Five speed manual with synchromesh in each gear.
Wire wheels: Custom made alloy rims colour coded wire wheels with Dunlop racing tyres.
Touring specification engine: In our view this is a must upgrade for these cars and twinned with the 5 speed gearbox makes this a very lively outside lane car and highly capable for European touring. JD Sport C Type lead free cylinder head, larger Twin 2 inch Sandcast SU carburettors, sport ignition systems plus leads performance. WM inertia starter motor and throttle linkage.
Cooling: JD Sport upgraded WM cooling system with larger alloy radiator and concealed electric cooling fan to aid running in slow traffic.
Exhaust system: JD Sport custom hand made full stainless exhaust system running from the tail pipe to manifold which has been ceramic coated to period specification – tremendous detail.
Handling: JD Sport adjustable suspension and handling kit. Fitted with fully-adjustable shock absorbers with coil overs and front and rear anti-roll bars.
Braking: Fit of AP Racing brake discs all round, colour coded to match the coachwork in matching green. The calipers are 4 pot and the discs are vented and drilled giving #005 serious stopping power.
Steering: EZ power steering – giving the option to adjust to suit all.
