1955 Jaguar XK140 Drophead Coupe
From a private Lake District Collection
Estimate: SOLD for £31900
Registration No: BEC 71C
Chassis No: 807046
Engine No: G2757-8
CC: 3442
Colour: Red
Trim Colour: Red

Finished in red with red leather upholstery, this particular example was first road registered on 29th June 1955. A notably early drophead coupe variant (the right-hand drive production of which began at chassis number 807001), it has been on static display as part of a private Lake District collection for many years. Although reported to have been driven into the collection building under its own power, the Jaguar is currently a non-runner and will require recommissioning prior to road use. Sold strictly as viewed it is accompanied by a green logbook, old MOT certificate (May 1980), expired road tax disc (September 1980) and V5 / V5C Registration Documents.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
