Reg SLC 701 is now on a modern (2011) diesel Jaguar. So what happened to 807341 after it was stolen?

Car appears on facebook currently believed to be in Scotland. Owner stating: Looking for advice on selling my project XK140 rhd drophead. We bought this about 40 years ago as a rolling chassis. The engine and running gear was restored but we had no body panels so fitted a period fibreglass body (not jaguar) so it could be driven. Sadly due to ill health it has been unused for the past 20 years. It is a genuine rhd with a c type head and overdrive gearbox. All matching numbers. After sitting so long it will need restoration.

It now appears that the report that the car was stolen in 1992 was incorrect. This car is genuine and has been owned by the seller since about 1980. It has been re-registered.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
