This 1955 Jaguar XK140 was produced in MC specification on March 18 of that year, and it was dispatched to a distributor in Los Angeles, California. Following its purchase by the seller, the car was disassembled and refurbished approximately 10 years ago, a process that included a repaint in black, reupholstering the interior, and installing an XKE-sourced 4.2-liter inline-six. The car was also converted to power steering and four-wheel disc brakes, and it has been fitted with an aluminum radiator and polyurethane suspension bushings. Additional equipment includes a four-speed manual transmission, a replacement soft top, black 16″ wire wheels, two-ear knock-off hubs, and a Moto-Lita steering wheel. An engine-out service was performed in September 2023, and the carburetors were rebuilt in June 2024. This XK140 is reported to have won Best in Class awards at the Jaguar Clubs of North America Concours in 2023 and 2024, and it is now offered in New York with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, records, literature, a car cover, tools, additional accessories and spare parts, and a clean Florida title in the seller’s name.

Originally finished in Maroon, the car wears a repaint in black with a matching soft top. Details include a split windshield, a louvered hood, and chrome bumpers. A set of Lucas fog lamps is included in the sale.

Black 16″ wire wheels are secured with two-eared spinners and are mounted with Otani tires. A wooden knock-off tool is included in the sale. Disc brakes have been added at each corner along with polyurethane suspension bushings, and the car has been converted to power steerings. The latter change involved modifications to the tie rods.

The cabin was reupholstered using components sourced from Aldridge’s, and it features bucket seats trimmed in black leather. A heel-hole is noted in the driver-side carpeting, and the heater-core matrix has been removed.

The wood-rimmed Moto-Lita steering wheel has a growler center emblem, and Smiths instrumentation consists of a reverse-sweep 6k-rpm tachometer, a 140-mph speedometer, a clock, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 2,300 miles, reportedly the distance covered following the refurbishment. Total chassis mileage is unknown.

The 4.2-liter inline-six is said to have been sourced from a 1967 Jaguar XKE, and it was installed approximately 10 years ago in place of the factory MC-specification 3.4-liter inline-six. It has been fitted with an aluminum radiator, a custom-fabricated fan shroud, and a revised alternator and choke system. An engine-out service performed in September 2023 included replacing the rear main seal, and the carburetors were rebuilt in June 2024.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. The clutch, pressure plate, flywheel, and throwout bearing were replaced in September 2023.

The Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate lists colors, delivery to a Los Angeles-based distributor in California, and a production date of March 18, 1955.
