Sellers description:
1956 XK140 OTS for sell. This is an original red car with black interior and black top per the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust (JDHT). It was restored back to its original paint/interior scheme. The body off frame restoration was completed in 1990. Afterwards, the car was driven extensively to several shows and club gatherings in the 1990s and 2000s throughout Texas. In 1992 and 1993, it won the South Central Regional JCNA Concours Championships. In 1994, it won its class at the Houston Autorama.

The various identification numbers on the car match the dataplate and the JDHT information. The numbers are VIN 812417, Engine G7874-8 (Both block & head), Transmission JL35269CR, and Body F12485. It was built on May 1, 1956 and dispatched on May 18, 1956 to Jaguar Cars in NY.

The car comes with the jack w/handle, grease gun, wheel brace and most of the tools. The side curtains and top were restored with the proper cloth and are included with the car. Except for the water temp/oil pressure gauge which had to be rebuilt, the rest of the instruments were simply cleaned and reinstalled. The odometer was not reset and should still be tracking the correct mileage on the car. Presently the clock is disconnected, but it did work when it was last powered.

As for updates to the car, a Pertronix solid state ignition system and radial tires were added.

All in all, this is an older restoration, now over 19 years old, that has held up fairly well in my opinion. As with any car that is driven and used, there are some flaws that show up over time such as paint chips, minor scrapes/scratches and the like. I have owned the car for 25 years and it remains a joy to drive to this day.

The car is being auctioned through Proxibid from the Cleo Bay Jr. estate ending today, July 27, 2022. Central Texas Auction Services, LLC. I previewed and test drove the car yesterday. Having been first completed in 1990, Mr. Bay was preparing to personally go back through the car and had sandblasted and powdercoated a replacement frame as a basis for the re-do. The car ran well but with a noise in the transmission with the clutch engaged. I presumed this an input bearing. In the limited parking lot I could not engage third gear although the auction agent said he had done so successfully to a near fuel station. I did engage 4th gear. Gas is leaking near the tank. The car will need repainting for show presentation as several areas show probable shrinkage of filler into pitted sheetmetal. Some chrome very good, other not - I guessed two shops were used. Tires dated 2008. Carpet wear and leather scuffs noted.

A real beauty at 20 feet!
