Car was at RM auction 4/06
http://www.rmauctions.com/AuctionResults.cfm?SaleCode=AM06#
Auction description:
The XK 140 roadster presented here was part of a private Jaguar collection for many years where it was kept highly original and properly serviced. After a careful evaluation and inspection it recently underwent a complete preservation themed restoration and a full vehicle detail by Classic Showcase. The original black paint was stripped, the body and all panels were refit to the car, and the brightwork was re-chromed as necessary. The interior is all new and correct, including the carpets, panels and red leather seats. Additionally, a new and correct black top and top bows were fitted to the car in completing the restoration. The individual components of the mechanical systems were all thoroughly gone through, restored, serviced, and replaced as needed. The car has only been driven the necessary test miles since restoration amounting to less than 100 miles total.
Undoubtedly, this is one of the finest XK 140 Roadsters available for sale in today’s market. It is an excellent driving car with the attractive steel wheels, rear spats and whitewall tires – elements that contribute greatly to the elegant look of this XK 140. The fit and finish of this car is perfect both aesthetically and mechanically and would be a great addition for any discerning Jaguar collector or first time XK enthusiast.

Please note that a restoration video accompanies the purchase of this car.

Car returning to auction 8/10
www.bonhams.com/cgi-bin/public.sh/WService=wslive_pub/pubweb/publicSite.r
Auction description:
Sale 18267 - Exceptional Motorcars and Automobilia, 12 Aug 2010 to 13 Aug 2010
Quail Lodge
Lot No: 251•
1957 Jaguar XK-140 Open Two-Seater
Chassis no. 812743
Engine no. G8701-8
The Oldenburg Family purchased this example in 2006, when it was fresh from restoration. Taking a good original example that had resided in a collection of Jaguars, the car had been subjected to a comprehensive rebuild of its cosmetics, with fine detail to the bodywork, re-painting the car to what was believed to be its original black livery. All of the chrome was re-done and a new interior was fitted and dyed to a deep red as a good contrast to the paint. New top bows and a new top were fitted. The drive-train was gone through at this point also, and overhauled where it was necessary.
The current owners are more inclined to 'go than show' and for this reason, in its present ownership it has been gone through mechanically and de-bugged. Today the car is ready to use and enjoy.
With its original steel wheels, rear spats and attractive paint/trim scheme, this is an archetypal example of the XK140 in fine and usable order.
Without reserve
Estimate: $80,000 - 100,000

1957 Jaguar XK 140 roadster
Chassis no. 812743
Engine no. G8701-8
The penultimate owners purchased this example in 2006, when it was fresh from restoration.
Presented with its original steel wheels, rear spats and attractive paint and trim scheme, this is an archetypal example of the rare XK 140 roadster in fine and usable order and Bonhams recommend close inspection of this fine example.
Estimate:
€100,000 - 140,000
£80,000 - 110,000
US$ 130,000 - 180,000
