Ebay item 10/17/06
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-Jaguar-XK140-DHC-Very-Rare-Jaguar-XK140-Drop-Head ...
Current bid $25,000, no reserve, 3 bids, 6 days left in auction. 108k miles.
Sellers description:
1955 Jaguar XK140 DHC...Very rare to find one in this condition with documented history back to 1962..Always garaged....2 owners from new and is rust free for the most part...I can only find 2 spots on the car with a hole the size of an American quarter...on the dog legs behind the doors on each side..very minor....there is no plastic on the car whatsoever..i have gone over it with a magnet and there is none...the undercarriage is perfect and totally original..no work has been done to the car by way of welding or repair...The floors are original and excellent .The body of the car just needs a nice high end paint job..
A new interior was fitted to the car a few years back and is still in perfect condition...the car needs a carpet kit and a new soft top..just the canvas everything else is there...wood glass and frame are all in very nice condition except for the rear glass which is broken in tw....but I have the pieces for the template...The wood on the dash has been redone professionally and is as nice as new. All the glass is in very nice condition. The chrome is original..nice but not perfect...
Mechanically..the engine has been completly redone...rebored with new pistons.. rings..bearings etc...also the gearbox has been reconditioned...new shocks and a new exhaust system fitted...the front end has had new bushings along with the steering....The brakes have all been gone through....the radiator has been recored....the list goes on and on....I have 2 folders files with receipt for the work done to the car..
The car is a numbers matching car..numbers as follows as per Heritage Cert. Engine Number G1617-8..Body Number P3045...Chassis Number..817041..
Delivered in December of 1954 The original color was Black with a Tan interior...The intention of the previous owner was to return to that combination...
Basically the car needs a nice repaint..a new soft top and a carpet kit to be excellent....
