Built in May 1955, LHD sent for delivery to a Belgian customer in the Congo, however the sale fell through and the car was sent to the Jaguar dealer in Kitwe Northern Rhodesia. Acquired by Mr. Lance Munro in July/Aug 1955, who traded in an Austin-Healey 100. By 1956 the car had been repainted in old english white. Used for numerous trips to South Africa as well as around Northern Rhodesia. When Mr. Munro passed away in 1962 the car was sold to someone in Kitwe for £350. The new owner later moved to Bulawayo with the car. In 2005 Paul Cowie, grandson of the original owner, was talking to a school colleague about the car and next day the colleague brought in a newspaper article about a local enthusiast who had acquired an XK140 packed in boxes ready for shipping to Australia. During the restoration the car was converted to RHD and sprayed old english white. Mr. Cowie knew this was his grandfather's car and contacted the current owner who at first was not sure it was the Cowie car but after being told that it was originally black, LHD and had carried an XK150 badge on the boot, realised it was the same car.
