Sellers description:
Rare find... this classic Jaguar is one of around 1,100 ever manufactured with an automatic transmission. Condition is good considering it is over 52 years old. She has been parked since 2005 when the transmission went south. Engine is strong and clean. Few oil drips for a Jag, mainly around the transmission bell housing. All in all, it is a fun driver with someone who is mechanically inclined, or an excellent car for restoring. Wood dash is in extremely good condition with only minor flaws. Top is original but not torn. Trunk does not latch but works well.

I have 40,000 miles listed above however it is unknown as to actual mileage. Speedometer has not worked for who knows how long. All other gauges work.

Minor rust for a car of this age and vintage - the paint as you can imagine is old. Early in her life the car was parked on the hills of San Francisco - while parked the handbrake was not fully set and the transmission popped out of park, rolling down the hill resulting in front end damage. The car was repaired and repainted.

This Jag was originally purchased new in San Jose, California by my cousin and has always been in our family. I am looking for a good home for this stunning classic - they just don't make like they used to.

The number listed G 7846-8 would be a valid engine number for a car built in 1956 May but this chassis no indicates a build date in March. Giving it this chassis number is indeed a large speculation. An application to JDHT in UK for a Heritage Certificate would iliminate doubt

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
