Auction description:
1960 Jaguar XK150 S Open Tourer
Lot 637
Registration Number: WSJ 399
Chassis Number: 30002820078DN
The car was originally supplied by Henleys Ltd of London as an original right hand drive model with a manual/overdrive gearbox, details of which are supported by a production record trace certificate. Having been restored by J.D Classics, the car is described as in excellent condition throughout. As with all ‘S‘ models the engine is fitted with triple SU carburettors with straight port C type cylinder head and a higher compression delivering a believed 250 bhp! Power is fed through a smooth four speed manual box fitted with overdrive which is reported to be in fine order. Finished in the attractive colour combination of cream with red leather interior, WSJ399 would make a fine addition to any collection.
Estimate: £100000 - £120000

Car returns to market:

Seller's description:
“An ultra-fast car which is close to perfection. The Jaguar XK150 S”
Chassis T 820078 DN was built in May 1960, and supplied through Henly’s, London. Finished in Cream over Red, the colours it is finished in today, it retains its original U.K. registration number WSJ 399.
Little is known about the early history of the XK, but there is no question as to the authenticity. There is a letter from Chris Keith-Lukas on file who, having inspected the Jaguar, confirms it is chassis T 820078 DN. Additionally, Philip Porter confirms it is an original 3.8S as listed in the Clausenger book.
It has recently formed part of one of the most significant of U.K. collections. Under their custodianship, it has been looked after by David Brazell of Brazell engineering, who completed a thorough service and recommissioning in 2022 at a cost of almost £10,000.
With it being one of only 24 of the original Right Hand Drive 3.8S Roadsters built, it is one of the rarest XK’s, and certainly one of the most desirable. Fully matching numbers, this is an XK for the serious collector.
