    Additional auction description:
Dating from 1958, the Indigo blue XK150 Drophead presented here has been the subject of a major restoration which was commenced in 1989 by a well known specialist. Thousands of pounds are understood to have been spent on the car, the work being carried out over a number of years. Mechanical work included the engine being rebuilt during 1998, along with the fitment of a reconditioned radiator together with a full brake overhaul. The manual gearbox was also rebuilt, and the car has been fitted with new wheels and a stainless steel exhaust system. The petrol tank has also been replaced whilst the interior trim, which is in doeskin leather, is also new, as are the carpeting and blue hood. Of fine appearance throughout, the motor car has been little used over the last ten years and is offered for sale with many bills, a V5 document and an MOT certificate valid until 3rd November 2004. Estimate: £33,000 - £35,000 1958 WSU 569 827249DN Not stated 3442cc 6

I believe the chassis number on this car is incorrect. Any info relating to this chassis number or body number gratefully received (chassis number on chassis is illegible)

No numbers match. Body no. is for a FHC not DHC.

Replacement engine V-1826-8 dates from Oct 1957.

Number should be in the range of 5500 to 5900

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
