This early XK140 SE was manufactured on 30th December 1954 and delivered new to the Hoffman dealership in New York. The accompanying Jaguar Heritage Certificate records the original colour scheme as British Racing Green with Suede Green interior and Fawn convertible hood. The car was dispatched from the factory on 7th January 1955 but nothing else is known of its early history.

Between 1983 and 1994, the Jaguar was registered in Pennsylvania as belonging to a Mr Albert Bione. At the beginning of the 2000s, the car moved to Holland and was treated to an extensive 'last nut and bolt' restoration (invoices on file), the colour scheme being changed to red with new matching interior in the process. The restoration was carried out to the highest standards and holds up very well today.

The Jaguar was not registered until 2007 and more recently found its way to Belgium. At the end of 2016, some further mechanical works were carried out for a total of almost €6,000, and the vendor informs us that the car drives very well. Accompanying documentation consists of the old Pennsylvania Certificate of Title (1994); restoration invoices (2000-2002) and invoices for parts, including wire wheels; a selection of restoration photographs; and the aforementioned bills from 2016.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
