Ebay item 7/23/07
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-XK-140-BRILLIANT-1956-JAGUAR-XK140-M-aka-SE-ROADS ...
Current bid $20,100 reserve not met, 7 bids, 6 days left in auction. 43k miles.

Sellers description:
A 1956 Jaguar XK140 M roadster, that runs very well, and catches the eye. It is an older restoration, and it has held up very well.

Currently registered and driven, we motored, in the car, to take the photos. It functioned well in all regards.

We took a point off the condition report for the two front fenders, because of some paint issues under the headlights, and along the drip gulley adjacent to the hood. These consist of minor bubbling, and are not a major problem. No rust issues on the frame, floors or rockers.

Newer items include the top and side curtains, shown off the car. There is a brand new starter motor, and a full exhaust system.

The wire wheels are painted, not chromed. There are no tools, or jack.

A quality cover comes with the Jag, and some books and records.

Vehicle Location: Greenlawn, LI NY 11740
Estimate: $65,000 - $70,000

A mystery car. Was it ever in Switzerland? The new body number P 1356 is plainly wrong but the first one F 10903 looks correct

New USA licence plate just added does not resolve the issues of non applicable numbers

Selle's description:

1956 Jaguar XK140 Drophead Manual, in Queensland.

This is a great driving car and its a Roadster not a drophead as they didn't have the Roadster in the selection criteria But this is also not a trailer queen. Its been reliable and drives really well , while its not a concourse car its will get there but if you wanted to spend the time and some money but still have a useable and driveable car this is one for you. The car is RHD ( converted) and has been serviced by jaguar expert who knows the car well but the last 4 years I have not really used it and now spends all its time in a shed and that is not good for such a lovely car. The car has had the carbies serviced and the conversion to CTEK trickle charging , updated fuel pump. If you need to see the car as I don't store it in Sydney we would have to arrange a visit to where its held so if you are a serious buyer let me know and I would be happy to meet you. XK140 don't come up for sale often, so if you know your jaguars this is a great model to buy and invest in. I recently saw one sell in the UK similar quality for 195K pounds which makes this a $400K car so its a better investment than shares .. interior is leather and in good condition but its been used as a car so some TLC wouldn't go astray and everything else is in good condition , paint is in good condition wheels as per photo and over all a good solid car .. no rust that I know of .. drives and starts every time and this car turns heads.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
