Ebay item 11/9/12
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-XK140-Roadster-Overdrive-/160919105559
Current bid $10,099 reserve not met, 3 bids 9 days left in auction. Buy it now price $46,500. 93k miles.

Sellers description:
This 1956 XK140 roadster is a fully matching number car. In fact I don't think the engine has ever been out of the car. The car has not molested, all the original clamps and nuts and bolts are still in the engine compartment and have not been disturbed. The original commission plate is still attached to the car and has never been taken off. The commission plate matches all the numbers on the car. The car is 98% complete. A few little things I see missing are: the set of fog lamps that were on it, the spare wheel and the tools. The interior is all intact and appears to be complete. This XK140 was originally the Dove Gray color with the red leather interior. What a very pretty combination. The car is not an MC car. It is very rare to see one of these cars with the overdrive as they usually came through with a close ratio gearbox. The driver's side of the rear part of the frame is going need repairing. This is an excellent candidate for restoration. It steers and rolls for ease of shipping.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
