Car returns to ebay 11/11/20
www.ebay.com/itm/1956-Jaguar-XK-1956-JAGUAR-XK140-SE-COUPE/373331669450
Car has a buy it now price of $19,500 for 29 days, seller kurttannermotorcars car now said to be in Santa Ana, California 51k miles.
Seller's description:
Offered for sale, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this fairly complete, matching numbers XK 140 Fixed Head Coupe for restoration. This car is believed to have left the factory in the very attractive combination of Dove Grey with Red interior, fitted with wire wheels, a four-speed overdrive gearbox, and all of the other SE options. This car was recently purchased from a shop in Florida where the owner started some light disassembly on the car. It appears to be complete with even some extra chrome items provided.
This car is a candidate for a ground-up restoration. It has never been restored and is due for everything ! The bodywork overall is decent with a very good front section, which is the car's most important part. The grille fits the hood very well. Body panels need some general bodywork and straightening. They have been flash primed for some weather protection. The car's rear, from the doors back, needs typical rust repair/rebuilding of the inner wings, spare wheel well, trunk/boot area, sills, B-post. The front of the car looks quite solid. Underneath, the chassis frame looks really excellent, solid, and straight with no issues, with all of the correct and original suspension, brakes, components attached. A perfect, solid platform to build the car back up on again !
The car's interior is weather shot and needs total refurbishment. It appears all items have been retained and saved including the interior and and dashboard wood, instruments and switches, trim, etc. There's still a hint of the car's original red upholstery and the original heater, radio, etc. is still there.
The car still retains it's matching numbers engine block and cylinder and has probably never been removed from the car. It's completely original and undisturbed still retaining it's original air cleaner assembly. There is oil in the engine up to the correct level. The engine is currently stuck from sitting but a rebuild is in order anyways. The desirable Overdrive gearbox is a great option coupled with it's factory wire wheels, twin exhaust, fog lamps.
The car includes all of it's loose items in the pictures. There are some repair panels made for the lower LH door. It's missing some flat glass pieces which are available. This car retains it's original brass data plate verifying it's numbers match.
Overall, a desirable, XK140 SE Fixed Head Coupe fitted with factory overdrive and wire wheels in a nice color scheme. This car needs a total restoration performed but is a worthwhile candidate as a rare and classic 50's Jaguar sports car.
