Sold new to Ferodo Ltd.

The history of this car has been recorded in The Jaguar XK120 In Detail by Anders Clausager and, more recently, in great detail in The Jaguar XK120 In Competition by Dr James Fraser. The original owners, Ferodo Ltd used the car for testing disc brakes. It was raced extensively throughout the 1950s and 1960s by Rob Beck becoming more and more modified. After retirement from racing in the late 1960s it spent a short time as a road car in the UK and was then sold to the USA, eventually being broken up in about 1975.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
