Car now offered at:
1952 Jaguar XK120 OTS
Country United Kingdom Region Hampshire
Delivered new by Hoffman USA
Registered in the UK to Mr Boyes in Scotland 02. 92.
There is a dating letter in the file from Jaguar dated 03. 1990 which has been used for registration in the UK. Mr Boyes had the car for some time and did the upgrades and work before registration.
Boyes did various events and had the car on display with Jaguar Drivers Club and featured it several times in the Jaguar Driver magazine.
Mr Boyes sold via Twyford Moors Classic Cars to Mr Rickel 08. 1995 who was based in Germany.
Mr Rickel did multiple rallies and events in Germany and has various invoices but the most important to note is with Cambridge Motorsport.
Gearbox and engine rebuild with forged pistons fitted plus loads of bits upgraded. Car was then dyno’d and made 228 lbft and 203hp. C type heads and sport exhaust fitted. Circa £10k net spent
Oakfields bought the car from Mr Rickel in 2004 and we put it in our name on the V5 04. 2004
We sold the car to Mr Schmidt (a family friend) 07. 2004
He enjoyed using the car between his home in Berkshire and the south coast. Various invoices for parts from known specialists with one at Twyford Moors for a lot of work inc rear brake lines and major service.
Then sold in 07. 2017 to the current owner by us.
In 2018 Denyer Classics gave the car a major service and replaced all the brake materials with upgraded liners and shoes supplied by JD Classics. Although still on drums with this upgrade the brakes are amazing, they work from cold but have the stopping power of a period competition car. Larger aero screens were also fitted at this time.
Regular service 06. 2019 again by Denyer Classics.
In 03. 2022 the car went to Outwood cars nr Winchester for a service, they took it to the rolling road as running rough where it then threw out its coolant and was diagnosed with a suspected Head gasket failure.
We took the car with its owner to Sigma Engineering where they stripped and serviced the engine fully, hone the bores machine the pistons, crack test the crank. Reface the cylinder head and refitted, ignition reset, then ran on their dyno.
Presents with a lovely patina earned over the 30 plus years of use since repaint. Complete with a good history file since the early 90’s with old invoices and features in magazines and at events. This fast road spec XK has since then the car has covered circa 300 miles trouble free and is ready to be enjoyed with is next owner.
