1953 Jaguar XK120 "Special Equipment" roadster

The car of offer left the factory in October 1952, though it was first registered in 1953. This is a very desirable version, that of "Special Equipment", which offered better mechanical characteristics. The body is in original condition, and old paint has an inimitable patina. The upholstery has been redone though, with leather lined seats as well as side-screens and a new hood. The instrument panel includes a mechanical watch, a Zenith Huit Jours, and we note the presence of a Lucas map reader. The engine, though original, has a new cylinder head and the mechanicals have benefited from recent work including the clutch, the cooling system, the front and rear suspensions. The car features chrome wire wheels, shod with Michelin X "collection" tyres. Maintenance has been by the l'Atelier des Côteaux, followed by the garage of Francis Trichet, both very renowned Jaguar experts. This XK120 roadster is one that is ready to provide hours of enjoyment to its new owner, making available its alluring authenticity, its powerful mechanicals and its carefully maintained and incomparable charm, all so typical of the first great post-war Jaguar.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
