Sellers description:
Possibly the best restorable Jaguar XK120 (M) Special Equipment Roadster that is currently available on the market. It is an excellent, original, double black-and-yellow plate, rust free California car that was last driven and registered in 1975! It has been stored for the past 32 years with a recorded mileage of 88,638 original miles, and now patiently awaits a careful and sympathetic restoration. It is highly original and has never been taken apart, with a superbly straight body and excellent panel fit to the doors, hood and trunk. The original color scheme is Dove Grey with two-tone Red/biscuit interior trim. It is a matching #'s matching vehicle except for the cylinder head (W8127-8), which is only 400 units away from the original number. It had one repaint in red early in it's life, but is now washing off revealing the original Dove Grey livery. The Special Equipment Roadster was the desirable upgraded sport or competition model over the standard car, offering an increase in horsepower from 160 to 180 by use of higher lift camshafts, lightened flywheel, stiffer rear springs and thicker front tension bars, and a twin pipe exhaust system. Please read on for an accurate and honest description.
BODY: Excellent, straight, solid RUSTFREE Southern California body in overall exceptional condition. Some damage to left front outer lower fender while in storage, but easily repairable. Excellent hood, door, and trunk fit. Original undercoating from the factory on the rear of fenders. Excellent door hinges with zero play on all four. Excellent hinge mount areas on door plates- no cracks. Doors close well with even and consistent gaps. Very solid trunk frame (wood) with excellent fit to car. Save thousands in restoration costs, as there is hardly any work needed on the body of this car.
CHASSIS: Beautiful, straight, accident-free original chassis showing only minor dirt build-up and some slight, light surface rust in some areas. (photos)
MECHANICS: Vehicle has been off of the road since 1975 with recorded mileage at 88,638. Engine turns (not frozen). Original carbs are removed and rebuilt, along with oil filter housing. Transmission shifts freely through all the gears. Steering box turns nice and smoothly with little play. Car rolls and steers fine. Right hand rear springs sags a little. Car is mechanically complete, with very original, untouched engine compartment in original Dove Grey paint. Car has all correct and original clips, clamps, fittings, wirings, etc.
TRIM: Original tired interior is complete with all the door seals, rubber, panels, seats, top frame, sidescreen frames, etc. Seats have been recovered once in vinyl. Drivers side windshield has a crack. Steering wheel is in good shape. All chrome items are there but need replating.
