This 1953 Jaguar XK120 SE roadster was acquired by the current owner in California in October 1979. It is finished in white over red leather upholstery and powered by a 3.4-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes 16” wire wheels, a black soft top, a split front windshield, dual SU carburetors, and Smiths gauges. The ignition components are said to have been replaced around a year and half ago. This XK120 SE roadster is now offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner with a clean California title.
The body is finished in white and is said to have been repainted prior to the current owner’s acquisition in 1979. Features include a black soft top, front and rear bumperettes, dual side mirrors, a front badge bar, and a single exhaust outlet. The seller describes evidence of body filler on the lower right front fender and a section of the door. A tear is present in the convertible top, and chips, scratches, and dings are noted around the body.
Painted 16” wire wheels feature knock-off hubs and are wrapped in older Coker Classic tires. A matching spare is housed in the trunk. Braking is handled by red-finished drums at all four corners. The seller notes the brakes were serviced approximately three years ago.
The cabin houses seats trimmed in red leather with a matching central armrest, along with color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Lap belts are fitted for both occupants, and features include a passenger-side grab handle, dash-mounted rear-view mirror, and map pockets in both doors.
A black four-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of Smiths instrumentation including a 140-mph speedometer, a reverse-sweep 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset analog clock, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 62k miles, approximately 1k of which have been added during current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The 3.4-liter inline-six features dual SU carburetors and was factory-rated at 160 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque. A 12-volt battery has been installed in place of the factory dual 6-volt setup. Work in 2021 reportedly consisted of replacing the ignition coil along with spark plugs and wires.
Block stamping W7777-8S is shown above and matches the chassis plate. Head stamping LA6685-8.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission.
The car is titled in California using chassis number S673746.
