When we came across this fantastic looking Jaguar, we knew instantly that we discovered something special. It was sitting in a barn between other important classic cars, all awaiting restoration. All these cars were in very original condition, most of them still matching nrs and most importantly they were all still driveable. As the Jaguar XK is my favourite classic car, this XK120 immediately took my attention, and after some negotiating it ended in our closed trailer ! We put two new 6V batteries in the car, filled the fuel tank, and within 5 seconds we heard all the right noises coming out of the twin exhausts. This was a "barn find" as we like it !

This XK120 was originally delivered in America. The original colour was Pastel Blue, with a dark blue interior and a blue hood. It must have been a wonderful looking thing in 1953 when it was supplied to its first owner. The engine was the desirable SE version, with a claimed 190 bhp output. During the years, it must have been restored once, and painted in its actual colour of primrose yellow with a black hide interior. The original gearbox, which is still with the car, was replaced by an easy-to-operate Getrag 5-speed box. The front drum brakes are replaced by Coopercraft disc brakes, which is often done by XK owners who wish to use their car on a very regular base. The engine block and head are still the original one with correct nrs, and so is gearbox (now in a box), body and chassis. The condition of the chassis is remarkably good, despite the fact that it has never been welded before. There is a file with the car which shows the maintenance that has been done, documented with invoices.

We are sure that this car is the perfect base to create a concours condition XK, because it is still a runner and very complete. It can be driven as it is, if you like the scruffy "rat" look, or can be returned to its former glory. Being a matching nrs car, and the most desirable SE version, makes it a car that ticks all the right boxes. For that reason, we will start to restore the car by ourselves if it is not sold in the next weeks. We only doubt that it will stay in our collection for long...

    Car now offered at:

    www.jaguarlandroverclassic.de/fahrzeuge/3098-jaguar-xk-120-se-ots/

    Seller's description:

XK 120 SE OTS with Matching Numbers and Matching Colors Nut & Bult Restoration Drivers & Collector's Car Built on December 23, 1953 for the JAGUAR dealer in Hornburg, Los Angeles, USA. Introduced to the UK in 2001 and sold to Belgium in 2007. Fully restored by a brand expert from 2013 - 2015 to the highest level. Great emphasis was placed on quality and originality. Almost all body panels could be refurbished, only the trunk lid had to be remade. The frame is also the original and has not been replaced by a replica, as is the case with many XK models. The engine was completely overhauled, the original and existing 4-speed gearbox was replaced by a 5-speed Getrag and the drum brake on the front axle was exchanged for disc brakes for more driving safety. With BLOCKLEY tires, value was also placed on the best quality and correctness. Today a Matching Numbers & Colors XK 120 can only be found a lot. Most restored specimens no longer have these important properties. The color “Pastel Blue” with the interior in “Blue” is correct. The leather has been worked in the same way as in the 1950s. Only the surface was colored in the original color. A color combination and a vehicle condition to kneel down.
