Current bid $96,200, no reserve, 17 bids 5 days left in auction.

    Sellers description:
    1954 Jaguar XK120 OTS "M" "SE"
    "OTS" Open Two Seater
    "M" Modified
    "SE" Special Equipment

This low mileage (34,659 miles) matching numbers car underwent a comprehensive ground up restoration. Every component on the car works just as it departed the factory on March 25, 1954.

During restoration it was refinished to its factory correct color combination of Cream with Blue Leather interior and Fawn Hood (Top).

Special Equipment Cars were equipped with "M" Modified engines and "SE" Special Equipment.

The "M" modified engines had 3/8" lift camshafts, uprated valve springs, performance carb needles, a racing clutch, stiffer 1" torsion bars, stiffer rear springs and a special crankshaft damper. This engine is similar to those developed and used by the Jaguar Works Department for the 24 Hour Le Mans races, however much more was put into their full race car engines as you would anticipate.

The "SE" special equipment items included wire wheels painted body color, running lamps / fog lamps, high output generator, dual exhaust, and windscreen washers.

The leather interior is of the finest Connolly Leather available, the carpet is 100% Wilton Wool, the interior kit was produced by BAS Ltd. and installed by a Jaguar Interiors Specialist. The weather equipment also includes a correct black long Tonneau Cover & Faun Side Curtains.

All numbers have been verified and match the Heritage Trust Build and Numbers Certificate that will be supplied with the car.

This is not a "Trailer Queen", yes it is an outstanding looking car but also it is an outstanding driving car.

The engine compartment, boot and bottom have all been professionally detailed. The car was most recently shown at the Atlanta Jaguar Society Concours where it was awarded 1st in Class (see the last photo).

The car starts just as it should, turn the key let the original fuel pump fill the carbs and press the starter button. With the electric starting carb engaged the car idles at 1500 rpm's until the Otter switch cuts the power, after, the car idles at 700 rpm's. The oil pressure at starting about 55 to 60 lbs. and remains high until reaching operating temperature at which time the oil pressure at idle is between 20 to 30lbs. If you are familiar with XK's then you know this is exactly what you are look for.

It still carries the original spring gators. Also included will be the the original ownership portfolio, which includes the unused 500 mile service voucher, Tecalemit Service Instructions, the Jaguar Overseas Distributors and Dealer listing, Operating and Maintenance Instructions for the Trico Windscreen Washer (each of which have the original delivering dealers stamp on the front) and a reprinted Operating Maintenance Service Handbook and yes those are the full set of original keys.

The car is still today positive ground, has the correct twin 6 volt acid filled batteries in series for the 12 volt system, has five correct 600-16 Dunlop Roadspeed tires mounted on the original 54 spoke wire wheels. Also included is the complete original factory tool set, this is Very Rare to still be with a car after 57 years, most have been lost, a full set today sells for $1500 to $2500.

I invite you to come and see the car, drive the car, inspect the car or have it inspected by someone of your choice and what you will find is a car that looks as good as the photos, a car that drives as well or better that it looks.

    Sellers description:

Vin # : S675083 - Engine # : F2276-8S - Body # : F7358 - Gear Box # JL 21427 - Exterior color : Cream - Interior color : Blue - Hood : Fawn - Build date: February 25, 1954. Main Distributor : Chas. Hornburg - Los Angeles, California. Current milage: 34760. The "M" modified engines had 3/8" lift camshafts, uprated valve springs, performance carb needles, a racing clutch, stiffer 1" torsion bars, stiffer rear springs, and a special crankshaft damper. The "SE" Special Equipment items include; wire wheels painted body color, running lamps / fog lamps. high output generator. dual exhaust. and windscreen washers. This is a restored car. Although this car recently won 1st. in class @ The Atlanta Jaguar Society Concours I would classify it as a driver condition automobile. It has various small flaws and therefore is not a perfect car. I am very particular. I would welcome any inspections. I insist on the new owner being happy with his or her purchase. The car looks and runs beautifully. It has recently had the brakes done, 2 new top of the line batteries installed, and is in top running condition. No known rust.

    Lot 254
    1954 Jaguar XK120 SE Roadster
To be auctioned on Saturday, August 16, 2014
    Without Reserve
    $140,000 - $180,000

    Chassis no. S 675083
    Engine no. F 2276-8S
    Body no. F 7358
    Gearbox no. JL 21427
This matching-numbers 1954 XK120 SE Roadster was shipped directly to Los Angeles-based Jaguar distributor Charles Hornburg after its completion by the factory in March 1954. It was finished in Cream with a Blue leather interior and Fawn soft-top and was delivered new to Nancy H. Biggs, of Missouri, according to its Jaguar-Daimer Heritage Trust Certificate. Mrs. Biggs was the wife of David Biggs, a well-known enthusiast of the time, and she was also a member of the Sports Car Club of America in her own right. Their collection included an Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B; the famous Ferrari 250 TR, known as "Big Red"; an ex-Jim Kimberly Ferrari 225 S; a Horch; a 1930 Mercedes-Benz; and this Jaguar, which was a gift from husband to wife. While much of the Biggses' collection was lost in a 1964 barn fire, the XK120 was not damaged, and after the couple's divorce, it was sold in 1965.

The car was purchased by the current owner from a gentleman residing in Southern California, and it was fully restored in 2009 under his ownership. It has been shown several times at JCNA Concours events and was intended to be used as a driver. Under the custody of the current owner, who purchased the car in 2012, it was treated to a further full cosmetic restoration, which included a repaint in the original color, the chrome being refinished, and all the rubber seals being refinished. Receipts for this restoration are included with the sale.

The SE models have proven to be highly sought after by collectors for their added performance over the standard XK120. They are truly splendid vehicles to drive and are ideal for vintage rallies, like the Mille Miglia and the Colorado 1000. This specific XK120 SE's recent cosmetic work has truly brought this example to an incredible standard, and it is undoubtedly ready for judging at future JCNA Concours events.

Description: Supplied new by distributor, Charles Hornburg of Los Angeles, in Spring 1954, this matching-numbers 1954 XK120 SE Roadster was then, as it is today, finished in Cream coachwork with a Blue leather interior and Fawn soft-top, and was delivered to a Nancy H. Biggs of Missouri, according to its Jaguar-Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate. Mrs. Biggs was the wife of David Biggs, a well-known Jaguar enthusiast of the time, and she was also a member of the Sports Car Club of America in her own right. Reputedly, their collection of cars included an Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B, the famous Ferrari 250 TR known as "Big Red", an ex-Jim Kimberly Ferrari 225 S, a Horch, a 1930 Mercedes-Benz, and this Jaguar, which was a gift from husband to wife and remained with them until 1965.
For the next 40 or more years, the car remained in the USA (primarily in California) and in 2009, in Southern California, the car was restored to concours standard and was shown several times at JCNA Concours events. On one occasion in 2009, the car scored a remarkable 99 points out of a possible 100. By 2012, and after regular careful use in So Cal this now resplendent Jaguar found its way to its penultimate owner, who felt the need to treat it to a further full cosmetic restoration, including a repaint in the original colour and the chrome was refinished. Receipts for these works are included in the history file.
By virtue of their extra power, the SE variants have always been regarded as better to drive, and this fine example was snapped up by a UK enthusiast for the purpose of regularity rallying in Europe, and being left-hand drive was perfect. This is the ideal purpose for such a car, and indeed interest from enthusiasts for these cars is great thanks to their eligibility, usability and comfort on long distance classic rallies like the Mille Miglia. Since arriving in the UK, approximately a further £10,000 (besides registration) has been spent on improving this splendid motor car including a major service and further works to the ignition, brakes, steering rack, hood, electrics and the exhaust. Not intending to part with this car so soon, its sale today is only to permit the realisation of the vendor's life-long dream to own one of the alloy-bodied XK120 Roadsters that he has been offered by a friend.
We have all been tempted in the past to make an impulse purchase at auction and possibly lived to regret it, however, this stunning 120 is proven, reliable, restored and inexcusably pretty and could well turn out to be the car that you will keep forever.
