Auction description:
The Ponder Collection
20 - 21 April 2007
Lot 2281
1954 Jaguar XK 120SE Roadster
To be auctioned on Saturday, April 21, 2007
Sold for $72,600
Chassis no. S675258

The 1954 Jaguar XK 120SE Roadster pictured here, finished in red with a black interior and a matching soft-top, is a very attractive example wearing stainless steel wire wheels. The Jaguar was treated to a ground-up cosmetic restoration in the early nineties, during which the interior was refinished, the exterior was repainted and the chrome was redone. The engine, which is original to the car, has never been disassembled, but has been serviced regularly and remains in excellent running and driving condition.

Having participated without fault in the California Mille on two occasions since completing its restoration, the Jaguar wears a sticker from each event and there is visible evidence of road use in the chassis, interior and paint. There are currently only 47,530 miles registered on the odometer, which is believed to be the correct mileage from new.

In addition to its original SE equipment, the Roadster comes with an album documenting its restoration as well as its original set of red painted wire wheels. Ready for more grand touring opportunities, this XK 120SE Roadster has the power and the grace to keep you smiling from ear to ear.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
