I don't know if you got my last comment...but I'm restroring an XK120 DHC and looking for a good red for the paint. I like the color on this car and would like the paint specifics if you don't mind. Paint manufacturer and paint code?
Thanks very much! Jon

Sellers description:
1954 Jaguar XK120 SE. Signal Red with tan leather and top. Complete nut-and-bolt restoration of a clean, rust-free car. Extensive receipts include mechanical upgrades to create a claimed 300 horsepower. Beautiful, fast and fully-sorted, ready for concours or touring.

This 1954 XK120 (chassis number s675634) has been beautifully restored to better than new and is a 100% matching-numbers, documented car that presents in outstanding condition today. A former concours best-of-show winner, it benefits from the SE package, which was introduced in 1953. SE stands for "Special Equipment," and adds high-lift camshafts to raise output to 180 horsepower. Some SE vehicles, such as this one, also benefited from the use of the race-bred C-type cylinder head, which further raised horsepower to 210, making the XK120 SE potent indeed.

Bodywork is better than new in every way, with excellent panel fit and precise alignment. Considerable time was spent getting all the surfaces straight before any of the 2-stage Signal Red paint was applied. The beautiful hand-buffed surface is worlds better than paint technology permitted in 1954, and there is no sign of orange peel or other irregularities in the finish.

The interior was removed and restored at the same time the bodywork was refinished. The seats were stripped to bare frames and refinished, the gauges were rebuilt, and a new steering wheel installed. The remaining soft parts were also replaced, including the carpets and seat covers. Competition-style 3-inch lap belts were installed, but tuck discretely out of the way for show. And yes, the car has a full set of weather equipment, including a matching tan canvas top and full tonneau covers.

Mechanically, this XK120 has been fully reconditioned by the experts at Donovan Jaguar Service. Extensive receipts accompany the car (copies available by E-mail, please contact us), show all the work that has been done--more than $36,000 was spent on the mechanical restoration alone. Noteworthy upgrades include new forged pistons, camshafts, and crankshaft, and it now makes a claimed 300 horsepower. Whatever the number, it is a very fast car.

New brakes, shocks, and expertly finished floors make this a car you can own and drive with confidence. Upgrades include competition torsion bars and sway bars, a set of neoprene bushings, and a set of new springs out back. The gearbox was completely torn down and rebuilt, and an aluminum flywheel and new clutch assembly were installed. Five new chrome wire wheels were fitted, and wear a set of recent Firestone wide whitewall tires.

There are no question marks, no gray areas, no asterisks with this XK120, as it is fully sorted and 100% road-worthy today. A beautiful, thrilling car to drive, the exhaust note alone is worth the price of admission.

This Jaguar XK 120 SE was completed on 21 May 1954. An open two-seater roadster destined for North America, it was built to left-hand-drive specifications and originally finished in Red over Black with a Black soft top. It was dispatched on 11 June 1954 to noted distributor Hornburg of Los Angeles, California. While early ownership history is unknown, by the 1990s the car was owned by racer and collector Michael Stott of Ho-ho-Kus, New Jersey. During his ownership Mr. Stott had the car serviced at Donovan Jaguar Service, with select records on file.

Today the Jaguar is finished red over tan with a tan convertible top. The car was restored some years ago, and has since been nicely maintained. Its front bumper prominently exhibits Vintage Sports Car Club of America and Sports Car Club of America badges. The car rides on Firestone whitewall tires mounted on chrome knock-off wire wheels. The interior is trimmed in tan leather featuring a four-spoke Moto Lita wood-rimmed steering wheel. The car is accompanied by a tan tonneau cover, a full-size spare, and a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate, confirming the car retains its numbers matching chassis, body, engine, cylinder head, and gearbox.
