This 1954 Jaguar XK120 is an SE roadster that is powered by a 3.4-liter inline-six linked with a four-speed manual transmission. Previously offered on BaT in October 2020, the car was subsequently purchased by the current owner and underwent a four-year cosmetic and mechanical refurbishment that involved repairing the body panels, repainting the exterior in white, fitting a custom red soft top, performing an electric power steering conversion, installing a stainless-steel exhaust system, and more as detailed below. It is further equipped with dual SU carburetors, Wilwood front disc brakes, and chrome 16” wire wheels with knock-off hubs along with a split front windshield, a wood shift knob, Smiths gauges, and red leather upholstery. This XK120 roadster is now offered on dealer consignment with invoices, refurbishment photos, and a California title.
Exterior work performed in 2021 by Vintage Coachwerks of Palmdale, California, included disassembling the body panels and completing rust repairs before the body was repainted to match its factory shade of white. The seller adds that while the trunk panels were replaced, the rest of the factory panels were retained. A custom red soft top and window screens were fitted to coordinate with the interior, and the car also has a split front windshield, fender-mounted side mirrors, and twin polished exhaust outlets.
Chrome 16” wire wheels feature knock-off hubs and are mounted with whitewall tires. Wilwood front disc brakes were installed prior to 2020. Electric power steering was added and the brakes were refreshed under current ownership.
The cabin features bucket seats with red leather upholstery, which is complemented by color-coordinated door panels and carpets. A wood shift knob and passenger grab handle are fitted.
The four-spoke steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation including a 140-mph speedometer, a reverse-sweep 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset analog clock, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 53k miles. The horn relay was replaced in April 2025.
The 3.4-liter DOHC inline-six features dual SU carburetors and was factory rated at 180 horsepower. Mechanical work included replacing the wiring harness, water pump, coolant hoses, and additional various gaskets and components in addition to installing an aluminum radiator and a stainless-steel exhaust system. The fuse box was replaced in April 2025, at which time the heater core was bypassed, a coolant system flush was performed, and the tach drive and left valve cover were re-sealed.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The transmission oil and shift shaft seal were also changed in April 2025.
