This 1954 Jaguar XK120 Roadster was reportedly purchased by the seller’s sister approximately 65 years ago and acquired by the seller some time in the late 1960s. A refurbishment is said to have been completed in 1978, at which time the car was repainted red over a beige interior. Power is supplied by a numbers-matching 3.4-liter DOHC inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Additional features include a beige soft top, fender-mounted side mirrors, dual SU carburetors, and 16” knock-off wire wheels. Recent work is said to have included replacing the voltage regulator, rebuilding the generator, and repairing the oil drain hole. This XK120 is being offered with a California title in the seller’s name.
Said to have been previously finished in blue, the car was repainted its current shade of red some time in the late 1970s. Exterior features include a beige soft top, fender-mounted side mirrors, and chrome bumperettes. Various paint chips are noted by the seller.
The 16” wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-off spinners, and a full-size spare is found in the trunk. Stopping power is provided by drums at all four corners.
The cabin is said to have been reupholstered at some point and features seats trimmed in beige leather with matching door panels and carpets. Equipment includes a dash-mounted rear-view mirror, passenger-side grab handle, and map pockets in both doors.
A wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of Smiths instrumentation that includes a 160-mph speedometer, a reverse-sweep 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset clock, and auxiliary gauges. The seller reports that the fuel level gauge and speedometer are inoperable. Total mileage is unknown.
The 3.4-liter DOHC inline-six features dual SU carburetors, and work performed in preparation for the sale reportedly included rethreading the oil plug drain hole, replacing the voltage regulator, and rebuilding the generator.
Engine block stamping number F3459-8S matches the data plate.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. Corrosion is noted on the frame and inner rocker panels.
