Sellers description:
1954 Jaguar XK 120 Roadster
s/n S676259, Engine No. KF5168-8
Ivory with Brown Leather

Dispatched on August 27th of 1954, this late production XK 120 Roadster was sold new in Los Angles, California, and appears to have stayed in Northern and Southern California all its life. Benefiting from its longtime California ownership, this car remains relatively rust free and represents an ideal basis for light restoration.

While this example could be used as-is, cosmetically, the car deserves some restorative work. The body is straight and predominantly rust free with the exception of the corner of the trunk, and battery support box. The door hinges are extremely tight with minimal play. There is no obvious evidence of damage or rust repairs to the body or chassis. The passenger`s windshield glass has a crack in it, as does the right fog light, although the headlights are protected by mesh grilles. The chrome is weathered in selected areas, but generally complete and relatively straight. The wheels have been recently refinished. There is no top or top frame with this roadster.

The interior is still trimmed in its original leather on the seats, door panels, and cockpit surround, although the leather has been re-dyed from biscuit to a darker shade of brown. This car features a beautiful wood dash in good condition. The carpets are older, and should be replaced. The seats are fair, and could be left as is or used as templates for new upholstery. The original gauges remain, and are joined by an aftermarket SW water temperature gauge, and an aftermarket trafficator. The horn button has now been installed, although this is not pictured. The trunk is also unrestored and contains no mating.

The engine bay is predominantly complete, but will also require some sprucing.

The underside confirms the long time California residency of this example and is structurally very sounds, solid, and straight. It is almost completely rust free.

The example is a running driving car. It starts easily, sounds good and has good power with minimal smoke and very good oil pressure. The transmission is operable in all gears. The brakes feel as though they have been recently restored, and the car stops very well. The speedometer, tachometer, and oil pressure gauges are all operating at this time.

With the car comes the unrestored spare wire wheel and tire, the British Heritage Trust Certificate confirming this car is a special equipment edition roadster.
A great starting point for a light restoration, this example will appeal to the buyer seeking a solid example to restore to his preferred standards. The lack of damage or rust repairs, and the fact that it is a running, driving car, sets this special equipment roadster ahead of other restoration ready examples.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
