COLLECTIBLE AND ENJOYABLE SPORTS-CAR ICON
Numbered S676205, this original left-hand drive 1954 Jaguar XK120 SE Roadster was built on August 11, 1954 and dispatched on August 30, 1954 to the United States, where it was sold new via Jaguar distributor Charles Hornburg in Los Angeles, California. A highly desirable Black Plate California car, this XK120 SE was purchased from there in very nicely restored condition by the current owner in 2016 and then totally restored to its exceptional present state in 2019 by the longstanding Jaguar specialists at Imports Unlimited of Highland Park, Illinois. During the restoration process, the vehicle was completely disassembled with the body removed from the frame and the work performed down to the individual nut and bolt, with the restoration work addressing all vehicle systems, components and parts. Itemized receipts on file with the vehicle total some $240,000 and thoroughly document all aspects of the restoration work performed.
Making a great car even better, this XK120 SE Roadster was upgraded for fast road work during restoration and as now offered for sale, it delivers an incredible and highly responsive driving experience. Among the many careful upgrades, the Jaguar was equipped with Dynamat heat and sound-insulating material and a new pedal box from Wilwood, The legendary XK DOHC engine was totally rebuilt, fitted with rebuilt SU HD8 carburetors, detailed and mated to a competition-worthy JT5 five-speed transmission which unlocks the Jaguars considerable performance potential. A limited-slip rear differential with 3.31:1 ring and pinion provides final drive, with a nice combination for acceleration and speed. Braking is now power assisted with the addition of a brake servo and steering has been updated with electric power assistance.
Beautifully finished in Black paintwork, this exceptional XK120 SE Roadster is accented by gleaming brightwork, twin competition-style Brooklands windscreens, a custom black tonneau cover, restored vintage Marchal driving lights and chrome 60-spoke wire wheels with knock off hubs mounting Pirelli tires. The cockpit features beautiful Tan leather upholstery, custom Burled Walnut veneer dash and instrument panels and a beautiful Moto-Lita wood-rimmed steering wheel. Mileage and use have been strictly limited to testing and sorting since completion of the restoration work. In addition to the detailed restoration invoices on file, this stellar 1954 Jaguar XK120 SE Roadster includes a copy of the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate, a mounted spare tire/wheel, roadside jack and a Jaguar Operating, Maintenance and Service Handbook. Thoroughly restored, beautifully presented and ready to enjoy on the open road as originally intended, this 1954 Jaguar XK120 SE Roadster marks an exceptional opportunity for confirmed Jaguar collectors and enthusiasts. Experience it for yourself! Contact us today to make viewing arrangements, obtain complete details and add it to your collection!
