Ebay item 11/7/12
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/JAGUAR-1954-XK-120-Roadster-Super-Sports-Model-/27109866 ...
Current bid $35,000 reserve not met, 1 bid 6 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
1954 Jaguar 3 1/2 Litre XK 120 Super Sports Model. The current owner purchased it in 1955 from its original owner, so in its 58 year history the vehicle has had only two owners. It has 70,107 miles on it but has not been driven regularly in over 30 years--although it was regularly started, mechanically maintained, and properly stored in owner's garage. In that time it has been driven less than 30 miles. This 1954 classic is in its original condition and has the great majority of all of its original parts with the following exceptions.

1. Rebuilt dynamo 2. Rebuilt starter 3. New flywheel (the owner still has possession of the original and will provide with sell of car) 4. New license plate 5. New red plush floor covering 6. New Brakes 7. New installed Jaguar dual exhaust (replica replacement of the original dual exhaust system) 8. Installed Piranha ignition system (the owner still has possession of the original distributor and will provide with sell of car. 9. Repainted one time in the original color of lavender gray. 10. Installed custom built fabricated gas tank 11. The two 6 volt batteries were upgraded to 12 volt (parallel, so its 12 not 24). 12. The original convertible canvas roof/cover was replaced due to wear but the side window/curtains are original.

In October it received a full tune-up and soundings like a purring tiger when idling. The recent repairs included the following:

1. Newly installed Jaguar dual exhaust system (noted above). 2. Front brake hoses and wheel cyl. replaced and installed (noted above). 3. Gumout regane complete fuel system cleaner/removal of old fuel and replaced with new fuel. 4. Engine was tuned and timed. This car is drive ready. It sounds great. Please come see it and hear it run. Additionally, as this is a rare and special "S" Super Sport 1954 Jaguar model (as designated by the "S" in front of the chassis number, VIN). Therefore, as listed on the original owner's manual it has special features including high-lift camshafts, dual-exhaust system (listed above and unique to the Super Sports model), wire wheels with knock-on hub and stiffer front torsion bars. This vehicle has all of its original red wire wheels including the spare tire. Finally, I have included a picture of a famous print/painting from 1955 by legendary artist Gil Elvgren entitled "Cover Up," which featured the 1954 Jaguar XK 120. This print sold for $191,000 in 2009. Just a little bit of trivial of a legendary vehcile. Please message me for further info. Thanks for viewing.

· The car has clear Indiana title

The car has a new home in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan at The Seven Gables Garage where it shares a den with four other XK120's that have seen much better days. There has been much growling and hissing observed due probably to extreme overcrowding, but the situation is improving hourly as the new arrival adapts to his new surroundings. It has been observed that he has a few bad habits from living alone one of which is leaking wherever he wants to at nearly every opportunity.

Original Left-Hand Drive example

Just three owners since new

One of the last XK 120’s produced

Matching Numbers engine

According to its Heritage Certificate, this remarkable Jaguar XK120 OTS SE was built in left-hand drive form, finished in Lavender Grey with a Red interior and rolled off the production line on the 12th of August 1954. Being one of the last XK 120’s produced.

It was subsequently despatched from Browns Lane on the 17th of August to arrive at the distributors in Hoffman Motor Car Co., New York in September.

It was destined for its new owner and after a few months, at the 17th of December 1955, with 4,000 Miles on the clock it was purchased in Indianapolis by Mr. Chris W.M. Manolis from a dealership.

In 1969 the owner painted the car in Dove Grey.

In 2011 the 92 years old owner sold the car to Mr. Gary Ray Seraphinoff from Michigan.

In April 2016 the Jaguar has been found and purchased by a Dutch gentleman, a very good friend of us with an extremely impressive collection, who is still currently the owner of this impressive Jaguar.

The Jaguar is highly original and has never been taken apart or restored. It has a Matching Numbers engine, gearbox, body and chassis.

Under the bonnet one can find the beautiful original and unrestored 3.4-liter XK engine which is also a desirable ‘Special Equipment’ model with C-Type–style cylinder head. In 2018 the current owner carried out the rebuilt of the engine as well as a fully restoration of the underneath of the Jaguar. He also installed new wiring.

CONDITION EXTERIOR

This is such a car which is impossible to find, with an original touch which is hard to find nowadays. Most cars are fully restored but this car is as it was newly delivered and carefully used.

The paint is old but very beautiful even as the chrome.

Doorfittings are very nice as well.

Some people love brand new restored cars, the people who love original cars prefer this car.

DRIVING EXPERIENCE

The sound of the car is wonderful. It has a beautiful noise from the exhaust. Sporty but still chique.

This car offers a great opportunity to acquire an extremely rare still original and unrestored quintessential British fifties classic that is also beautiful and eligible for various driving events including the Mille Miglia.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
