Ebay item 4/26/10
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-XK-XK120DHC-1952-Jaguar-XK120-Drophead-Coupe_W0QQ ...
Current bid $20,000 reserve not met, 2 bids 9 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
1952 JAGUAR XK120 DROPHEAD COUPE

VIN: 2589
CHASSIS: S678332

This restoration project has been a ‘work in progress’ over the past 12 years.

This restoration was body-off and was a complete chassis rebuild. The chassis was chemically stripped and powder coated, and all new suspension bushings were fitted.

The body was completely dismantled, including the removal of the front fenders. Some minor repairs were necessary to the A-post and hinge supports. Both front fenders were stripped and professionally repaired, where only minor damage was found. Both sills were replaced and one new floor panel was replaced. From the B-post back is all new, including battery boxes, inner fenders, trunk floor, and trunk lid. The only existing panels which are not new but in very good condition are the left and right rear fenders.

The rear brakes have been rebuilt, and the front brakes have been modified to discs. The master cylinder has also been upgraded.

The original engine (#F3083-8S) has been completely dismantled and is ready to be rebuilt. I have installed a ‘donor’ engine which has all the parts from the original engine. i.e. starter, generator, carbs, oil pan, etc. I modified the clutch to a hydraulic rather than mechanical. The mechanical bell-housing is available with hardware if required.

The only instrument that is missing is the oil pressure/water temperature gauge. The headlights and headlight rims are also missing.

Both seats have been re-upholstered using new seat frames.

The convertible top frame is complete, and all the woodwork (including bows) has been purchased.

The road wheels are all in good condition and are fitted with Avon Turbospeed tires.
The only other items I can think of that still need to be acquired are the rubber seals for the whole car, the convertible top, the D-shaped moldings that fit around the rear fenders, wiring harness, and the chrome finishing around the windshield.

The dash woodwork is complete, but some pieces need to be refinished.

Apart from the left door, all the metal is exposed, so no filler (apart from the original lead) has been applied to any of the panels. All the gaps for doors, hood, and trunk have been aligned, so there is no further work required before prep and paint.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
