Ebay item 12/8/06

Current bid $32,100 reserve not met, 11 bids, 6 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
This beautiful XK-120 spent 30 years in the Malouf collection in New Mexico, before coming to Arizona and undergoing a complete “body off” “nut and bolt” restoration of the highest degree by an accomplished restorer. This Jaguar’s lineage has been researched and all previous ownerships have been traced and verified. A proper British Heritage Certificate was obtained from the Jaguar archives.

The restoration left no stone unturned and the complete process was photographed, chronicled and compiled into a large, comprehensive album that goes with the car. Noted subcontractors were utilized in bringing this fine Jaguar back to this museum level condition.

The body was removed from the chassis, stripped to bare metal, minimal body work performed and refinished in a subtle, elegant, understated, dark gray. The frame was stripped of all its mechanical components, blasted to bare metal and refinished in a proper gloss black enamel. All the drive train components are original and numbers matching. The engine, #W739-8S, was totally mechanically and cosmetically restored, including all ancillary items.(starter, carburetors, generator, water pump, etc.) The engine rotating components were also electronically balanced. The cast iron exhaust manifolds were restored and porcelainized and the exhaust is routed through a complete stainless steel exhaust system. Radiator was recored with larger, extreme duty core. The gearbox, #JL15433 was disassembled and all necessary wear parts replaced The differential was disassembled, cleaned, inspected, resealed and repainted. The original fuel tank was cleaned, pressure tested and sealed to prevent rust. The brakes were totally restored both mechanically and hydraulically.

A new, fabric wrapped wire harness was installed and all instruments sent to Nisonger Corp and completely rebuilt, including restoration of the dial faces. The original Lucas tri-bar headlamps were disassembled and restored including “re-silvering” the reflectors. An auxiliary electric cooling fan was installed to help with the engine cooling chores.

The interior was also totally restored. A dove gray leather was used to compliment the exterior color with matching wool carpet and headlining. All the interior wood trim was stripped and restored to its warm, original finish. The windshields were replaced and the rest of the glass is original. All window mechanisms function as they should. All the rubber in the car has been replaced.

Although this Coupe is a true SE, with 180hp, dual exhaust and front mounted auxiliary lamps, the owner decided on the more formal appearance of the steel wheels, hub caps and full rear fender skirts. The original wire wheels and adapter hubs are available and go with the car. The boot was restored to its original condition and includes a complete tool kit, spare, jack, lug wrench and hand pump. Also included is the owners manual, the aforementioned restoration and research binder and all historical data.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
