This car is currently undergoing a major frame off restoration. Owner would like to locate the original engine and gearbox. The car was bought from a private owner in Minnesota.

There is no doubt the engine number quoted is the original engine

Ebay item 1/19/14
www.ebay.com/itm/Jaguar-Other-2-door-coupe-Jaguar-XK120-Fixed-Head-Coupe-1954-Re ...
Current bid $4,250 reserve not met, 5 bids 6 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
Seller regrets having to abandon a five year restoration of this 1954 Special Equipment model Jaguar XK120 Fixed Head Coupe mid-stream due to health and other issues. An investment of nearly $20,000 has been made in replacing all rusted sheet metal with new and fabricated metal panels, including sills, shutfaces, pillars, new inner rear fender panels, floors, transmission and driveshaft covers, firewall, battery boxes, and much more. Most of the structural work has been done. Completion of rear fender installation and reassembly of front wings remain to be done. Frame was cleaned and painted by previous owner. Original ID plate included and matches numbers on frame and body. Clear title. Heritage Certificate goes with the car. Included in this auction are: Body as shown including both front wings, one pair of rear wings, both doors (already mounted), one boot lid and one bonnet. Not included are interior, including seats, gauges, interior wood, and instrument panel; exterior chrome and lamps; exhaust, brakes, sets, wiring harness, radiator and grill, ancillary parts for engine, such as starter, generator, distributor, etc. If you do not see it in the photos assume it is not included in the sale. Also included is a correct period engine (W-9063-8). Engine and head are non-matching but correct and engine turns freely. Will also provide a correct rear end with springs, front suspention with steering, four wire wheels and tires, rear shocks and links. This is FHC number S681070; original engine number W-8138-8S. Selling at a very reasonable reserve considering that my investment is unlikely to be recouped.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
