The May edition of the XK Gazette reports the car was sold at:
jagxk.com/cars-for-sale/category/jaguar-xk140-fhc-rhd-1955-for-sale.html

Sellers description:
Jaguar XK140 FHC RHD 1955 - SOLD
Chassis No: S 804012

This Jaguar XK140 fixedhead coupé is a very early car (the twelfth right hand drive fixedhead) and has a genuine C-Type cylinder head. It is a genuine UK right hand drive car having originally been sold by Henleys Ltd. London in February 1955.

This XK140 features many upgrades including electronic power steering, alternator, electric cooling fan, header tank, hidden radio, inertia seat belts and disc brakes. The car also benefits from having all the walnut dashboard and door capping restored.

Driving this XK140 one can feel it is a well set up and maintained motorcar. The 3.4 litre engine pull well with good low down torque provided by the C-Type cylinder head a 2" carburetors. The four speed Moss gearbox is in very good order and you can progress though the gears smoothly if you are patient with this classic gearbox. The disc brakes are responsive and combined with radial tyres the car gives the driver a really feeling of confidence. The ride is comfortable and supple however could be give a more sporty feel with the addition of polyurethane bushes.

Aesthetically this fixedhead is very smart however on close inspection the Indigo Blue paint work has extensive superficially flaws and is priced to reflect this. The chrome work is all in good order and the smart interior has some patina giving the car a nice feel of age. This XK140 is a lovely usable car with real scope for improvement.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
